5 Years Later....

Death is something very numbing. Though there is no sadness, no fear, there is also no happiness or nostalgia. There is just a sense of lightness, as if one is floating in the universe. Namjoon never talked much about his near death experience after the car accident, but he had always made it seem as if it was something you could fight. When Jungkook recalled nearly dying, it was the complete opposite. There was no resilient bone left in him. He was ready. And then, as if a rope was tied around his waist, he was yanked back into his hospital bed.

A knock startled him out of his daze. He rubbed the gathered dust off of his finger as a result of dragging it across the window pane.

He looked at the door. "Come in."

The door creaked and then Taehyung's head popped out. As he entered, he eyed Jungkook's room as if it was his first time seeing it. Then his eyes found him. "You're hair grew quite a bit. Practically to your jaw now."

"Yeah," Jungkook replied with a slight smile. "It's been a hassle. I've been having to keep it out of my face a lot." As if to prove his point, he picked up a hair tie and tied his hair back. He stuffed his hands in his pockets. "Have you visited Yoona at the hospital recently?"

Between the two of them, the energy instantly turned suffocatingly grim. Taehyung nodded. "Yeah. She's. . . Yeah."

About a month ago, Jungkook's father received a call from Jin. Apparently, Yoona developed what seemed like a rash. However, it wasn't until that night when she had trouble breathing that Jin and Namjoon rushed her to the ICU. Unfortunately, Yoona's leukemia had resurrected once again. Since then, she's been hospitalized and under constant surveillance. The doctors say it's too early to tell if her condition will worsen, but due to their ominous tone, Jungkook couldn't help but be pessimistic of how much her little 4-year-old body could take.

"Min and I are going to visit her today," Jungkook said. "I'm going to pick her up right now."

Taehyung nodded understandingly. "I just came to drop of some strawberries to your dad from my uncle's farm."

Jungkook had almost forgotten that Taehyung had moved to the countryside for the summer.

"Oh. Thanks," he said.

Taehyung's blistered hands mimicked Jungkook's gesture to hide in his pockets. His eyes wandered the room before finding their way back to him again. "And Yoongi-hyung?"

"Not much. I think our group is at that point where they just don't care enough to go out of their way to include him. I mean you know how he can get. Especially after the break up."

Taehyung sighed and shook his head. "I know he said he needed to be apart from us but it's been three years. And we're so close to that record deal."

"I know," Jungkook agreed. "Trust me. I know. He might produce our songs, but with Hoseok still in our group, I don't think he'd be willing to be an idol."

Taehyung bit his lip. "Look, Jungkook, I want you to know that despite our past..... I still consider you one of my closest friends. Promise me it'll stay that way for a long time."

Jungkook tilted his head, giving him a lopsided grin. "Let's shake on it."

Upon seeing his hand gesture towards him, Taehyung eagerly shook it. Suddenly, the air seemed a little more breathable.

I know this is super short and unfortunately since I a a senior I have a lot going on but I wanted to get something out there! I promise I will finish this sequel if it's the last thing I do!!!
