Peter's POV

You know, sometimes being a superhero really sucks.

I know what you're thinking, "Oh boo-hoo, you have super strength and people adore you wherever you go."

But that's not it. That's not it at all.

Sometimes, I just want to not have to worry about secret identities and saving the world all the time. I miss the times when my biggest worry was the grade on my math test. I miss having time to spend with May between her crazy shifts- burnt experimental dinners and all.

And having time to spend with, I don't know, a GIRLFRIEND?

Well, yeah, that too.

I've just missed her so much, you know? And I know I was the one who pushed her away- the one who ended it all. And I know now what a huge mistake that was, but I can't make things right just yet. I know she deserves better, and heck, I should be the better person and let her go, but I can't. She's stuck with me, through thick and thin, every single idiotic moment that we would dance around our feelings.

She's the one. I can't let her go again.

But this stinking evil dude in a fishbowl and bedazzled suit isn't exactly making my life easier!

Now I'm on top of a train, headed towards Berlin.

Yeah, as in Germany.

And Y/N is back in Prague, about to catch a flight back to the states. And I had all these plans for the trip, and there was the necklace, and I was gonna fix things, and we were gonna watch Phineas and Ferb reruns on the flight back home...

Focus Peter! You're in hero mode right now, not love-sick teenage boy mode!

Isn't that his default setting?

Hey!

It may hurt, but it's the truth.

I try to shake away my thoughts (with multiple personality disorder, jeez, I should really see someone about that) and instead pull out some headphones. What? It's a pretty long ride!

Scrolling through the endless playlists on my phone, I already know which one I'm going to be listening to. I mean, really, do I ever listen to anything else?

I tap the Nickelback playlist, settling into the familiar sounds. You know, Y/N once recommended I try Daughtry, maybe I should try that sometime.

But after this- one of my favorites, "Hero", just came on.

I lie back on the roof of the train, listening to the steady beat of the wheels gliding across the tracks providing white noise behind the gritty sounds of Nickelback. I'm also pretty thankful for the warmth of the suit, providing some protection from the wind, even if it is tight in uncomfortable places.

And you know, since I'm listening to Nickelback, I've gotta overthink everything under the sun. Like for instance:

Does she think about me as much as I think about her?

Gosh, I sound crazy right now.

But I'm not that crazy.

Just crazy for her. There's a difference.

You know, I'm starting to feel really crappy about just leaving her behind like that. I mean, I know she gets it, and I'm not exactly leaving her behind. I'm protecting her. And the world. And fixing a screw-up. Somehow, this screw-up seems way easier to fix than my screw-up with her...
