Tara's POV

Today's the day I have to take Sarah to her friends party. We managed to find some gifts for her while we were out shopping yesterday and I am currently sat on the floor wrapping them while Sarah has a bath. They're all small gifts. For instance, ones is a box of different flavoured Kool-Aid sachets while another is a mini-lip gloss set. I've already wrapped both these and have around four more to go. Sarah insisted she wanted to get her friend lots of little presents she'd like instead of one big present. Only today she told me she can't wrap very well so I would have to do it. I don't really mind, I quite enjoy wrapping presents for people. Only seeing as how I have to go to and stay at the party with Sarah and bring her home, I should probably be getting ready now too.

Since we got back from the mall yesterday, I haven't been able to stop myself from thinking about that wonderful smell that only I could sense and I just can't put my finger on what it was or why I could smell it and why Sarah couldn't. Last night I had one of my dreams again. My dreams of finding my mate. Only this time, I was walking through the forest behind the estate I live in, when that vanillarey smell came back to me. I started walking towards where it was coming from. The further I walked, the stronger the smell got, until I reached the very heart of the woods where there is a small clearing and a guy around my age was sat on a boulder with his head down so that shadow covered his face. Instinctively, I went to turn and run, not knowing who this man is but before I could he spoke. He spoke my name.

Flashback to Dream

"Tara.." His voice was gentle like that of whisper but at the same time it made my skin tingle ad shivers run through my body. I didn't know this man but at the same time I felt like I should. I felt like he knew me and I should trust him. I could feel my wolf inside me howling longingly. She wanted me to move towards this man but I didn't think I should. My thoughts were cut off as he spoke again and his words made me freeze.

"Tara.. Come here. You can trust me."

How does he know I was thinking about going to him or whether I could trust him or not. How would he know that unless..

"Can you read my mind?" I didn't realize i'd actually spoken what I was thinking till I saw the edges of his lips curl as he replied to.

"No. I cannot read your mind. However I can hear your thoughts. They run through my mind as if they were my own."

His last words shocked me to the very core of my being. Before my wolf had a chance to protest I had turned on my heel and was darting my way back to my home. Amongst the howls of my wolf vibrating through my head, I could hear heavy footsteps behind me. Whoever this guy was, he was chasing me.

"Shit." I muttered as I stumbled my way through the forest.

"Tara. Enough. Stop. NOW." His voice bellowed around me and my body ignored all common sense and started to slow down to a stop just as I tripped over the root of a tree and face planted the muddy earth beneath me. The loud thuds of approaching footsteps made me roll over on to my back so I could see him. Just as he lifted his head so I could see his face, there was a flash of white and I woke up. But I still got a glimpse of his face and I still believe my mind is playing tricks on me.

Back to Reality

The man In my dream was the same guy from the food court yesterday and he was still wearing that cocky grin of his. I know he's not my mate though and that it's just my mid playing tricks on me. I know this because, if he was my mate I would have been completely drawn to him yesterday. I mean, yes he was probably the most handsome man I've ever seen and I couldn't take my eye off of him. But that doesn't mean anything does it? No. Of course it doesn't. There is no way the wolf spirits would have patterned me with someone who even from a glance seems arrogant and cocky. No. I didn't deserve that. He is not my mate. Maybe I just have a crush on him so that's why my mind put him in my dream? Yes. That sounds about right.
