Tara's POV

Watching my sister attacking her pancakes from across the table, it dawned on me how little time we actually spend with one and other. Maybe it's time that changed but how?

"Tara? I wanna go get a present for my friend Beth, it's her birthday tomorrow so would you drive me to the mall?"

"Yeah, sure sarah!"

I couldn't believe how easy that just was. I didn't even have to think of anything she just subconsciously handed me an idea on a plate. I'll go to the mall shopping with my little sister. We could even go into the Disney shop. I've been wanting a new lion king teddy to add to my collection. I could feel a grin forcing its way onto my face at spending some much needed bonding time with my little sister.

That was until the worst thought crossed my mind. Mate. My wolf was practically growling inside of my mind telling me she wants to find her mate. I've always wanted to find my mate and get married, have children the whole shibang! But these last few months my wolf is becoming really restless about finding her mate and I can't explain why. It might just be because a few of my friends have found theirs and they're constantly together, it's like they're inseparable. Maybe she's just feeling lonely, having to watch them together when she doesn't have hers. I have to agree with her there though, I do feel lonely when I'm surrounded by my now bonded friends. It wasn't as bad when they all just had a girlfriend or boyfriend and we didn't take anything seriously. But other the last year they all seem to be finding their mates and I'm the only one left.

My thoughts had completely distracted me till I noticed a hand being woven in front of my face whilst my sisters high-pitched squeals stung my sensitive hearing.

'MAMMY I THINK TARA'S DE..'

She didn't get time to finish that sentence before I lashed out my hand and covered her mouth to stop the painful shrieking as an aggressive growl passed through my lips. When her eyes became visions of fear I knew mine held looks of guilt. Guilt for scaring my little sister but I'd be damned if I was to apologise.

'Come on. Lets just go shopping.'

I tried to keep the anger from slipping into my words but I found something else in there. Something that sounded.. Powerful and I didn't like it.

On the way to the mall, Sarah continued to infuriate me with her constant playing with all the buttons on the inside of my baby. The way she had her feet slung up and resting on the dashboard. I couldn't help but be angry with the way she was treating my car. It's a 58 beetle and looks just like her is did in the movies but with a convertible soft top. At the moment the roof was down as it was the middle of July and the sun was beating down in California. I love driving my baby in the sun and feeling the wind rush through my hair.

Within ten minutes from leaving, we were pulling into the mall car park and I couldn't help but feel that something just wasn't right. There was some strange scent in the air, it smelt like vanilla and golden syrup. But I guess that could just be coming from the food court. Giving my head a shake to clear my thoughts, I climbed out of the car to find my Sarah already stood waiting for me with that teddy clutched in her arms. Grabbing her hand, we headed into the mall to begin our day together.

Four hours and about 14 bags later, we were heading towards the last shop. Ciara's boutique. This shop was one of the best shops in the mall for dresses. Sarah needed one for her party so I'd told her I'd help her find one. So far we'd already looked in a few dress shops and eventually decided to just go to the one we knew was best.

"What about this one Tara?" Sarah's voice rang through my mind. I turned round to see her holding up a baby pink dress with white frills and big shoulder pads. It was hideous. I can't even imagine why a shop would even stock a dress like that.

"Yeah if you want to look like a marshmallow." I replied but the obvious sarcasm was dripping from each and everyone of my words. She placed it back on the hanger and I began my search again.

Flicking through all the dresses hanging on the rack, my eyes were a blur or different colours. None of them seemed like they would suit my sister. That was until, I found the most beautiful red dress. The top was shaped like a vest top and the bottom flared out like a skater dress. Around he middle of the dress were a few clear costume diamonds and the further you went down the dress the more diamonds there were. As I turned it round in my hand, you could see the diamonds shining different colours.

"Oh Sarah. I've found the perfect dress for you!" Instantly she spun round and the moment she saw what was in my hands, her jaw dropped to the floor. I could see the amazement in her eyes by the way they glistened. As though she'd just realised what I was holding, she started racing towards me screaming "oh my god oh my god oh my god! Gimme! I need to try it on!" Before she'd finished what she way saying the dress had been snatched from my hands and she was already locked inside the changing rooms.

A few minutes later, she emerged from the dressing room and gave me a twirl. The dress was just as I'd predicted. For a young girl it was perfect. The red made her gleaming blonde hair stand out against the material. Just seeing her in this dress, we both new it was the one for her.

"Go get changed and hurry up and buy it! I want food!"

With that said she spun on her heel and within five minutes she had changed out of the dress, payed for it and now we were on the way to the food court. Even after those pancakes this morning, I could feel my belly protesting and demanding food. I guess it's just another downfall to being a wolf. Constant hunger.

As we approached the food court, that strange smell from earlier came back to me. I couldn't get rid of it. It was stuck to me like glue.

"Hey Sarah, can you smell that?"

"Smell what?"

"That vanillaery smell?"

"No.. Tara I think your imagining things."

Turning my attention towards the food court, my eyes were drawn towards a guy around my age maybe slightly older, sitting with a group of guys right in the middle. He had dark brown wavy hair and tanned skin with a cocky smile placed on his lips. I couldn't see his eyes because he wore a pair of dark shades hiding what I would assume to be the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. Looking away from his group, it was clear they had the attention of everyone in the food court.

A ear-piercing howl broke me from my thoughts as I scanned the area to see where it had come from. When it sounded again, it was then I realised I could also feel it. It was my inner wolf. But just why was she howling? Why could I smell this gorgeous scent? And why couldn't I take my eyes away from this mysterious boy?
