9. Mine

Theo's POV

"You are mine. I want and need US to stay together. we'll be able to enjoy life together and I'll be able to protect you. I'll keep you safe from harm and I'll love you forever."

After my little speech, I could see the shock in her eyes as she knelt before me. Her eyes were wide and her jaw was hitting the floor. She looked so cute. How couldn't I love her? I wanted to hold her in my arms for the rest of our lives. She was mine and i knew she owned every part of me. I belonged to her. Minutes and minutes had passed and still she was knelt in the same position. The only difference being, the slight confusion that now shadowed her face. I couldn't hold myself back any longer as i leaned over to her and engulfed her in my arms. I swiftly lifted her through the air, and placed her on my lap where she curled into me, rubbing her face on my chest. Right here in this moment, my life was perfect. Tara's angelic voice, withdrew me from my thoughts.

"I don't know what to say Theo.." She trailed off as my mind spun. She doesn't love me. I just declared my love to a girl who doesn't love me in turn. What will i do without her? I may not have spent a long period of time with her but i know, i couldn't live without her.

Before i told her who i was to her, i used to just watch her. I used all my spare time, to being around her. There were times when i climbed imto the treehouse in her backyard, so that i could see into her bedroom window. That day at the mall when i found her, i followed her home and spent the whole day refusing to return back to my land and pack. I wanted to stay with and be around my mate. These times when i would just sit and watch her, would fill me with happiness and fill my cold heart with warmth, in a way i thought was not possible.

That night at the party, when she ran out. I could feel her emotions clearly as if they were my own. Fear was coursing through my body just as it was hers. Longing overwhelmed our minds and wolves. Anger seethed in the pit of her stomach and confusion tied all her emotions together. The way i could feel her emotions, told me what we had was strong and important. But at the time, i wasn't thinking clearly. All that was passing through my mind was the trouble that i had already caused my mate. I am the one person who is bound to her by destiny. The one who's life would revolve around her and the one who was meant to protect her from all harm. Yet already i could feel the pain. The pain that i had caused.

Reliving all the scenes in my mind, i hadn't realised thst i had drifted off to sleep. All of a sudden i was in Wolf form, running through the forests on my land. Ahead of me i could make out a group of wolves, some were obviously rogues whilst some were members of other packs. The scent of strawberries and cream hit my nose and i remembered why i was chasing them. They have my mate. But just why and how did they get her? Calling out to all members of my pack, i called for back up and any known information relating to the situation.

Alpha? Scotts voice ran through my head as we used the mind-link for communication.

Yes Scott?

It's the ocean view packs Alpha, Alpha Stevens. He lost his mate to a team of vampires and hunters. It seemed to him and everyone else that you had rejected Tara. It is common knowledge that anyone who can survive their mates rejection, is a strong being. It's rare that people manage to carry on, especially the female. This is why Alpha Stevens has taken Tara. She has proven herself to be a strong shewolf. One capable of leading a pack by Stevens' side. Sorry Alpha.

I couldn't believe what i had just heard. This is my fault. All mine. I should have accepted her when i had the chance. A searing pain started in my chest, which soon found it's way round my entire body. I knew what this pain meant but i couldn't face it. He'd kissed her, destroying the bond we created years ago, leaving me writhing in pain as my mate had been taken from me physically and emotiomally.

A voice laced with irritation and anger, battled through my thoughs. "Theo? Theo are you even listening to me? Have you heard anything i've said?" I was confused, through my hazy mind, i couldn't make out where the voice was coming from. It sounded like Tara, but that would mean she was in my mind, no that's not right.

My vision came back to me and i pulled myself up into sitting position in Tara's bed. Tara was again sat infront of me with a cute scowl on her face. Even scowling, she looked beautiful. She was here. She was here with me. Her gaze softened as she took in the worried expression on my face but the relief, i could feel in my eyes. My body was soaking as beads of sweat slid over me.

"Theo are you okay?" The worry in her voice was evident and while i was ecstatic that it proved she cared for me, i felt anger at myself for worrying her.

"I am now. You're here. You're really here!" I coukdn't prevent the smile that tugged at my lips. She was here. It was all a dream.

"Why wouldn't i be here?" Her face no longer held a scowl but now held a look of pure confusion. My beautiful girl. I'd do anything for her and i'm going to start by being honest.

Sucking in a deep breath, i prepared to tell her of my dream before she used it agsinst me. " I was thinking about us and i fell asleep. I dreamed of the future. I'd not accepted you as my mate to save you the danger but when you survied the rejection, you drew attention. An Alpha of a neighbouring pack came and took you. I was going frantic with worry while i tried to chase them down, but when he kissed you and i felt the bonds break. The pain and sorrow was unbareable." By the time i had finished my explanation, i was staring bleakly at the floor waiting for the taunting to come, but it never did. Instead i felt hands on my shoulders as they pushed me to lie back on the bed. Obediently, i let the hands guide me till i was lying down. Glancing up, my eyes locked with Tara's.

"That will never happen Theo." Her voice sounded like she was scolding a child, but i knew she was just trying to convince me of it. She lay down beside me and rested her face on my chest as i wrapped my arms protectively around her.

"I love you Theo."

"I love you too Tara." A comfortable silence followed after that and soon, i heard the change in her breathing as she fell asleep. Moments later, i too joined her in a peaceful slumber.
