Confession - Final Chapter

(I never liked writing confession scenes, it was always super cringe to make. Looking back on this, I hate it, but I'm not deleting it 🤡)

(During 2/23/21, I deleted some parts so that it'd make more sense during the third story. So that's just an unimportant message to the future.)

I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked behind me to find Kokichi.

"Hey hey! Shuichi, follow me!" he said. I shrugged, and followed him to wherever he was going. Just like last time, we were at a spot where nobody was at. Except unlike last time, the ice cream man wasn't there either.

I looked over to the ocean.
"The ocean is very pretty.." I said.
"Yeah! I know, if only it could stay that way forever." he said.

I looked over to Kokichi, as his hair was blown with the wind. I looked back at the ocean.

"Hey Kokichi, mind taking a photo with me?" I asked. "I want to save this moment for the rest of my life."

"Huh? Sure, why not." he said. I brought out my phone, and took a photo of both of us. I looked at the photo. Me and Kokichi, the person I like, in front of the beautiful ocean. This is surely a trip I will never forget.

I put the phone away in my pocket.

"I'm glad to see you're okay." I said.
"What do you mean?" asked Kokichi.
"The other day, you didn't seem that happy. It's nice to see you're not sad anymore."
"Really..? Thanks, I guess."

We both sat down, watching the ocean waves.

"Kokichi, remember when you played the knife game at school?" I asked.
Kokichi laughed a bit. "Yeah! That was pretty embarrassing of me to cut my finger like that."
"Remember Miu's party?"
"Yeah! That was a pretty good party, as much as I hate to admit it."

We then started talking about things that happened in the past. School, Kaede and Kokichi's plan, Miu's Party, our old trips..

"You actually were scared of that movie, weren't you?" I laughed.
"Maybe.. maybe not!" said Kokichi. Kokichi grabbed the ice cream from his pocket.
"It's not melted?" I asked.
"Yeah, that's pretty strange, isn't it." he said. He took off the wrapper, and handed it to me.

"Here Shuichi. I'll give you it, I don't need it." he said. I took the popsicle from him.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yeah!"
"I've.. never seen you this nice before?" I said.
"What are you talking about? I'm always this nice!" he said. That was clearly a lie.

I looked up to the sky.
I feel courage inside of me.
I feel Kaede cheering me on inside my head.
I stood up, and Kokichi did too. I grabbed his shoulder.

"Kokichi.." I said. I was nervous, but this is the best time to do this.

"Yeah Shuichi?" he asked. I sighed.

"I like you, Kokichi." I said it. After all these days, weeks, months.. I have courage to say it. He looked at me in surprised.

"I mean, It's okay if you don't like me back I-"
"It's alright. I like you too, Shuichi." he said.

I hugged him, and he hugged me back.
