I couldn't help but keep thinking about the beautiful redhead that was just catapulted back into my life. How soft her skin felt when we shook hands; her piercing green eyes that gazed into mine affectionately as we spoke; her amazing smile that just seems to welcome you in; how much her face lit up as she explained her vision for the NYE event... wow she was impressive. I was just blown away by her ideas and passion. She was always the party planner of our group of friends back in school, but damn was she even more creative now. I love that she turned her passion into such an amazing career. I realize at this point that I am just staring out my office window, although I can't really say I've paid much mind to the view.

"So, you went to high school with Sophia?" I'm suddenly brought back to reality and turn to see Noah standing in my office doorway. Sophia only mentioned that we knew each other from school. I immediately had wondered why she left out such a huge detail, but I'm sure it was because of the reactions we would've gotten admitting that. I think I will just go along with that for now.

"Ha, didn't we just discuss this briefly in the meeting?" I chuckled, but he just stares at me. "So, did you know her well?" He seems very curious. "Um, not really. We had some classes together, but that was like 10 years or so ago. Why do you ask?" He leaves the doorway and sits in the chair across from my desk. "No real reason. She just seems like a really great girl and I am interested in getting to know more about her." Oh great. Now one of the bosses has a thing for Sophia.

Not that I blame him. God, she looked so beautiful. I mean, she was always beautiful, but even more so now. She had every head turning throughout our years of high school and I am sure it's no different now. It took forever to get her attention back then, but once I did, I felt like the luckiest guy ever. Thinking back to our relationship makes me remember everything that I loved about her. I'm sure that those things would still stand today.

"I mean, I don't really know much about her anymore. I probably won't be much help to you. But don't you think that would be weird if you tried to hook up with her while she is planning our event?" He never was the relationship type. His family money has always had his back in every aspect of life. He smirks at my statement. "Oh Logan. All I have to do is show her what a great catch I am! I'm very wealthy, I have a great job, I'm good looking and I can show her a damn good time. She'll come around to me on her own and be begging me to take her to bed." I roll my eyes. He always has been a cocky bastard and it never bothered me before. Until now. I am not okay with him talking about Sophia like that.

"Yea, good luck with that dude. She was never like that in high school, so I doubt she is now." He rose from the seat while chuckling. "We shall see if that's true then, won't we?" With that remark, he walks out of my office.

Fuck man. I would hope Sophia wouldn't fall for his shit that easily. I remember it taking so much effort on my end to even get her attention back in high school. I know that Noah will definitely put on the charm. He is a player through and through, and he is damn good at getting women in bed. I cannot let Sophia be one of them.

Soon after he left my office, my phone starts to ring. The name I have been trying not to think about since I saw our client lists is now lit up on my screen. Amber. I know I was going to have to speak with her eventually, but I really wasn't expecting it to be this soon.

"Logan Parker speaking," I answer. I hear a giggle on the other end. "Always so formal Mr. Parker. You know you don't have to be that way with me, right? Not with our past..." "What can I do for you, Amber?" I interrupt her. She sighs, "Well, Noah called me the other day to tell me about you and I working together now that you're in New York. I was hoping to have heard from you by now, but since I hadn't, I figured I would give you a call." I pressed my thumb and pointer finger on either side of the bridge of my nose. I really don't want to deal with her after the events of today.

"Amber, I only just flew in over the weekend and I'm still getting everything situated. It isn't the easiest thing to move across the country. I would've reached out eventually." She lets out a breathy laugh, "Well,l now that we are talking, how are you? It's been a while since I've seen you!" Oh... you know, I've been just great... my first and only love just waltzed back into my life unexpectantly and I am in a brand-new city that I'm not familiar with... Nothing out of the ordinary. "I've been alright. Just trying to get everything back to an appropriate normal. How have you been?" Sure, I'll make some small talk, I guess. She quickly fires out, "Oh my God, I have been great! I have been working so hard on a lot of new music. As you know, my last album was so amazing and now I need to surpass these new expectations my fans have for me. So, I need to deliver another amazing album! I am so ready for some studio time. That is where you come in, Logan! I am free this Saturday!"

I pull up our studio calendar and sure enough, Saturday morning is open. Not that I really feel like spending my Saturday morning with her, but I need to just get over that and act professional. "Well good news, we can do Saturday morning at 10am. I can meet you here for the session and have everything ready to go. Does that work for you?" "Absolutely! I'm so glad we can get some time so soon. Maybe we can go grab some drinks afterwards?" "Unfortunately, I already have plans that night with some colleagues," I quickly lie. "Well, they can always join too, but of course we can iron out the details on Saturday!" she replies without any hesitation. It was almost as if she was expecting me to say I had plans. I close my eyes tightly. I can feel a headache coming my way because of this conversation.

"Ok Amber, we will talk on Saturday then. I have a meeting that I need to get to now though. Thanks for reaching out." "See you Saturday Logan!" I then hang up. Of course, I didn't have another meeting, but I really couldn't stay on the phone with her anymore. We had a fun together in the past, but she had gotten somewhat possessive and crazy. I made the mistake in sleeping with her on a more regular basis and she constantly thought that meant we were together. She is definitely beautiful- long blonde hair, light blue eyes, but I have never been able to give my heart to anyone after Sophia and I split during college. At least having the distance between LA and NYC before helped her stay away at times. Now we are in the same city.

Please send help!

What do we think about Noah's comment about getting Sophia to come to him? Looks like it isn't sitting well with Logan!
