BAYNARD'S CASTLE
Richard watched as Arthur danced with Catherine. They looked slightly awkward, but Richard knew they'll get along.
It was Harry's turn to dance and he asked for Catherine to dance with him. It was all fine and dandy, until a jealous Arthur shoved his little brother aside for getting too close to his bride.
Richard stepped in, pushing those two to different sides. He told Arthur to back off before dragging Harry out of the room.
"Can you not for once anger your brother?", Richard sighed.
"Admit it, I was the better dancer", Harry chuckled.
"Yes, you are, but it's Arthur's wedding. Be nice please. When it's your turn, you'll get your chance".
"You didn't get angry when I danced with Freja", Harry huffed as he crossed his arms and leaned himself by the pillar.
"I don't send letters to the princess pretending to be my brother and get her hopes down knowing now he is not who she thought he is".
"Look at him! He's awkward with her!", said Harry.
"That doesn't justify anything, Harry. Now, walk it off before your father scolds you even more".
Harry grumbled as he stomped away. Richard sensed he was simply growing up and wanting to find himself or he's simply jealous at Arthur.
After a day of dancing and drinking, it was time for the bedding ceremony. Richard and a few others helped Arthur to strip of his outer clothes, leaving him in his shift.
Tugging the robe together, Arthur took several deep breaths. "How was it? Your first night with Freja?", he asked.
"It was great".
"How'd you do it?".
"Be gentle".
"Why am I nervous?".
"That's normal. Be gentle with her. It..., it would be natural when you just do it".
"That's not much of an advise", Arthur chuckled.
Richard chuckled too. "I'm sorry it's not, but it's all I can say as appropriately as I can".
"Wish me luck", said Arthur before entering.
Richard went back to his room to find Freja already in bed, feeding Teddy in her arms. Teddy was already sleepy and fell asleep immediately after finishing his milk.
"How was he?", she asked.
"Nervous", Richard laid next to her.
"Remember our first night?".
"How could I not? You're so beautiful", Richard kissed her neck.
Freja smacked him, giggling. "If I make any sound, we'd be risking him waking up", she said, pointing at Teddy.
Richard picked him up and set him in his crib not far from them. He took off his clothes and climbed back onto the bed.
He helped Freja out of her shift, leaving her naked form before his very eyes. Her golden hair spread onto her pillow, looking like a wheat field. Her blue eyes reminded him of the ocean, very calming.
His finger traced her skin, causing her to giggle. Richard kissed her lips, her neck and moved downwards, paying close attention to her breasts.
Freja moaned, her hands tugged his curly hair and her legs began to wrap around his waist. Richard didn't waste much time, inserting himself in her.
They moved together, establishing a rhythm. Richard was gentle, as always. He didn't want to risk hurting her even when it's been nearly a year after Teddy's birth.
Richard was coming to a close and he picked up a pace. Freja came first before he did. Richard stayed still for a while, waiting for Freja to calm before pulling himself out.
Richard laid back down on his side and Freja rest her head on his chest. Slowly, the two fell asleep.
THE NEXT DAY
Richard waited by the apple tree. Yesterday, while the dance commenced, Robyn took the opportunity to pass a note from Richard to his mother. Lizzie saw the glimpse of the edge of a folded note and Robyn gesturing at his hand with his eyes.
Lizzie woke up, quietly and walked out to find Sarah, who took her to see Richard. Sarah took Teddy and let Richard and Lizzie spoke in private.
"What is it?", Lizzie asked.
"Someone made an attempt on Teddy. William was killed", said Richard.
Lizzie gasped. "Why didn't you tell me?!".
"If I told you, it'll scare off whoever is responsible".
"Oh God, have you found out?".
Richard shook his head. "It happened when I went to Spain. William fought them off and he got killed. He was my strongest ally, lady mother. Killing him was..., the best option for them".
"We are my Yorks, my son. We do not quake in fear. Do not show them you're afraid. Show them that nothing can break you".
"It's his children. He died in Sarah's arms", Richard sobbed.
Lizzie turned to Sarah, who was showing Teddy the rose bush nearby. "I'm grateful he had defended your son. I owed him so much", she said.
"I don't know where to look. I fear for my son's safety. Remember Cathy Gordon's son?".
"They will rue the day they made Henry king if they ever harmed a hair on Teddy's head, my son", Lizzie kissed his temple.
Lizzie returned to her room. Sarah handed Teddy back to Richard.
"Did you tell her about father's necklace?", asked Sarah.
Richard shook his head. "She'll tell the king. That one tiny detail could be the key to solve the problem and if I tell her, she might tell the king and if the culprit find out, they might throw the necklace away. I want to get it back, for you and Drew".
"You think she did it?", Sarah was referencing to someone.
"She could be..., but there's so many suspects that we cannot afford to point fingers".
"I owed you everything. My father was a mere stable master".
"To me, he was a father and you and Drew are my siblings. I will see that justice is served", said Richard as he kissed Teddy's cheek.
Suddenly, Robyn came running. "Rich, you have to know something", he said, panting.
