Y/N POV

Friendship is an odd thing isn't it?

It is something that you value in life, something you need in order to get through the day. It grants you the most wonderful experiences of life, it gives you the feeling of being loved, cherished and liked.

We all need social contact, and friendship provides that, regardless of how many friends you have. I in fact, had loads of friends in high school. Girls and boys from all kinds of different backgrounds we I could share a laugh with.

People who I felt happy around, people who I trusted, people who I could talk to about my troubles and worries. Friendship is important, we need it to survive, to be happy. Without friendship, we are lost.

But at the same time, you should be careful who you're friends with. Friendship is a way for people to cover up their true intentions, to cover up the fact that they in fact, do not even see you as a friend at all.

Like they say; keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.

That's not how I view the value of friendship, but I have learned to not just throw and toss people away from my life just because they turned out to be fake, just because they betrayed me or harmed my trust.

Especially the ones that have been in my life for a long time, the ones that have proven to be there for me during the hard times. People make mistakes and with that, they tend to hurt the ones closest to them.

That describes the friendship between Jihyo and I. We are like sisters, therefore, we fight and argue but would never choose anyone other than each other to take that beloved place of 'best friend'.

However, we have been pitted against each other to become rivals during our time of being friends. For some reason, there always had to be one that stood on top whilst the other could only watch on.

Cruel, but true. I wish it were different, but it isn't. And concerning Jihyo is a competitive person whilst I am not, I suffered because of it. She was the dominant friend whilst I was the obedient one.

But things change, just like my obedience changed. I thrived whilst Jihyo did too, but not as much as I did, which caused her to become jealous, feeling like she was casted to the side by the others.

I never saw it that way, I always saw Jihyo as the superior friend, the one I looked up to, but that did make things hard. I always had to live up to her expectations, watching those who didn't being casted out of the friend group.
