a whole world

"Can you guys get your asses up already! It's 11 for gods sake!" Rebekah yells throughout the house.

First comes Elena, dragging herself down the stairs, rubbing the exhaustion from her eyes. Then comes Stefan with annoyance written all over his face. Next comes Katherine all dressed and ready, and finally her comes Damon. He looks like he's about to rip somebody's head off.

"What the hell are you guys doing in your pajamas still? It's almost 12!" Rebekah insists.

"Hey blondie," Damon says, "shut the hell up."

Kol sits on the couch laughing, "You guys are gonna wish you never stayed."

"Did anyone ask for your input?" Rebekah demands.

Elena sits on the couch with Kol and Bonnie. Kol is sitting with Bonnie's head on his lap and her legs on Elenas lap. Elena rubs Bonnie's legs gently, "How are you feeling?"

She knows Bonnie had it rough last night. She used a lot of her power and she knows how exhausting that can be for her.

"I'm okay, better than last night."

"That's good. You know we can't have anything happen to you." She smiles. She looks around the room trying to find everyone. "Where's Caroline?"

"Klaus took her to breakfast and to give her a quick New Orleans tour. They should be back soon." Kol adds.

"I wanted to go on a New Orleans tour." Elena adds.

"Well I guess you should've gotten up before 11 in the bloody afternoon." Rebekah says.

Klaus stares at Caroline while she watches people pass by the streets of New Orleans. He's never felt such joy and a feeling of relaxation in his life than when he's looking at her. She quite literally makes everything better by just existing.

He took her to breakfast at one of his favorite restaurants on the square. They got a variety of waffles, beignets, biscuits, eggs, and waffles. Needless to say, they were both stuffed.

He took her down the street and explained all the shops and the history of witches in New Orleans. Right now they were just sitting on a terrace admiring the view.

"Klaus," She says gently.

"What is it?"

"Thank you." She smiles.

"For what?" He laughs a little bit. What could she possibly be thanking him for? He hasn't done anything. If they were to be thanking each other, he should be thanking her for bringing light to his life.

"For saving me, for always being there to save me."

"Caroline love, I'm always the reason you need saving. Don't ever feel like you need to thank me." He rubs her face gently in circular motions with his thumb and gives her a kiss on her forehead. "I love you."

"I love you." She says back. She pecks him on the lips and lays her head on his chest, loving the feeling of his embrace.

"You know, we should probably be getting back soon."

"I know, I just want to stay in this moment a little bit longer." He smiles and rubs her back gently.

Not too long after, they arrive back at the manor with the gang sitting in the living room.

"Nice of you to finally join us," Rebekah snarls.

"Don't even start, Rebekah," Klaus replies.

"How are you feeling Care?" Elena asks.

"I'm doing okay. It's really nice outside, you guys should go out." She looks around. "Where did Lexi go?"

"She went out exploring last night on her own. Surprisingly, New Orleans is one of the only places she's never been." Stefan says.

"I hope she comes back soon, I want to thank her." Caroline replies.

"You might be waiting a long time," Stefan chimes. "You know she's a wild spirit."

"Let's go get some lunch!" Rebekah yells.

"I'm not hungry." Klaus blantantly says.

"Did I ask if you were hungry?" Rebekah retaliates.

Klaus just looks up at her with a death glare and rolls his eyes. He picks up a book and begins to read while Rebekah tries to convince everyone to go out and get lunch. He's lost in his reading so much that he doesn't even notice Caroline walk up to him until she's sitting on his lap. "I didn't see you coming, love."

"So what you're saying is that your book is more intriguing than me?" Caroline asks with sass while dragging her finger across his chest.

Klaus smirks and throws his book aside. "Never." He takes her hand and kisses her from her hand, up her arm, and finally reaching her neck.

She giggles trying to get him to stop. "There's people around." She lightly swats at his chest.

He chuckles deeply and lays back in his chair. He loves making her squirm. "We should go to lunch with Rebekah." She can tell he's not too fond of the idea by the change in his facial expression. "It would make her happy, you know."

"Fine."

She smiles and places a kiss on his cheek. He taps her thigh signaling for he to get up. He gets up and starts to walk towards the doorway. "If you want to have lunch Rebekah then let's be on our way."

She smiles. "Come on guys!" She runs and catches up to Klaus, looping her arm around his. "Thank you brother."

"Don't thank me, thank Caroline." She turns around and gives a bright smile to Caroline and mouths the words 'thank you.'

Caroline smiles back and blows her a kiss. She loops her arm with Bonnie and they walk out with Kol trailing behind them.

They get to an Italian restaraunt and decide to buy the whole menu full of pizzas. They come out fresh and hot and everyone gets as many pieces as they want. 'This is so good!" Caroline gushes. Everyone agrees.

Klaus leans into her and whispers in her ear, "This is nothing compared to the places I want to take you. The authentic food you'll taste is exquisite."

"I don't wanna go anywhere yet, I just wanna enjoy the moment. It's not everyday that everyone I care about is all together and actually getting along." Caroline smiles, analyzing the room full of the people she loves. The fact that all these people came to help save her is overwhelming at points. There were times in her life where she felt completely alone and to know that there is a whole group of people that would risk their lives for her was both scary and a blessing at the same time.

"I understand, but just think about it. There's a whole world out there waiting to see your beauty." He kisses her on the cheek and rubs her thigh as he pulls away.

The only thing Klaus ever wanted to do was to show Caroline the world, to show the most beautiful girl the most beautiful places. He wants to show her that there is a whole other world to explore and that she deserves the most it can offer. He sits back and realizes that everything is in this room with him right now. His family, his friends, and the love of his life. How much better can it be?
