Up until now, the girl who arrived in the Box unconscious had been just that.

Unconscious.

Sleeping in the Med-jack hut, the little amount of food the girl could digest was beginning to worry the Med-jacks and Newt. And then, she woke up.

And she didn't just wake up. She kind of went completely and utterly berserk.

Ada had been woken by a startled Frypan, who had a look of excitement plastered across his face as he shook the girl's shoulders. Sitting back from her when her eyes peeled open, he moved away from beside her bed to chuck her a jumper.

"Quick, the girl's awake!"

She moved in an instant then, pulling on the jumper so quickly that she didn't realise Frypan had thrown her one of Gally's. She followed the boy down through the Homestead, expecting the girl to be sitting somewhere and talking to Alby and Newt, but instead finding something very different indeed.

The first thing Ada caught sight of was the group of boys crowded at the bottom of the tower. A small figure was at the top, chucking various objects down and yelling at them, Ada quickly grasping that the figure was the new girl.

Getting closer, Ada quickly ducked under the cover of a large bowl Frypan was holding up to block the items being chucked at them. She wanted to look at the girl properly, but the other was so freaked out by the whole situation that it would be impossible to.

Gally looked particularly angry, having nothing to protect his head as the girl continued to hurl down items at them rather aggressively. It was a moment Ada would never forget.

"If you throw one more of those, I swear I'm gonna-"

Gally was swiftly cut off by a spoon bouncing off his head and falling onto the grass with a thud. He ducked and cried out in pain, and Ada tried desperately to stifle her laughter to avoid the boy hearing.

She only wanted the whole thing to stop when she was put in the same position as Gally, when Frypan ducked away from her with the bowl, leaving her completely exposed. Instinctively, she took hold of Gally's shirt and cowered behind him, still giggling at it all.

For a moment, she forgot about how things were between them. And as she was being so touchy - hands still bunched in the back of his shirt, her head dropping against his left shoulder blade - he forgot too.

It was like none of the shit with Thomas and the Maze had ever happened.

Gally whirled around to seize the girl's wrists, taking her off guard, and managing to spin her so she was in direct line of the Greenie's firing. Ada tried to wriggle away, but was bound by Gally's hold, and he only let go after an apple had bounced off her head and rolled onto the ground.

That hurt more than expected.

Gally's jaw slacked and he dropped the girl's wrists in shock, suddenly looking very guilty. Despite this, he still spoke between breathless laughs. "I didn't mean for you to actually get hit."

She only swatted at him in return, causing him to break off into laughter again. This time, she joined him. And for a brief moment, they were back to normal.

"Hey, it's Thomas!"

The new girl's antics were put to a stop by Thomas' yell up to her. Everyone suddenly looked rather grateful for that, except from Gally. Gally's expression soured at the sight of Thomas, and just like that, the spell was broken.

The girl's head peered out over the edge, eyes clearly wide and fearful despite the distance she was watching them from. Ada's eyes quickly moved to Gally, quickly gathering his disbelieving expression as Thomas said he wanted to come up to talk to her.
