018: Beauty Behind The Madness

It's just another day in Hawkins.

Christmas had come to pass and soon Winter break would be over.
Steve got Lana a couple of records and a necklace with a locket of them two in it.
She hasn't taken it off yet and doesn't plan to.
Jim got her a framed photo of Lana, Jim and Jane smiling together that Jonathan had taken.
Joyce got her a few new Tops and Lana loved them.
Joyce knew exactly what She liked.

Lana's parents were mere ghosts at this point.
She woke up almost everyday with Nightmares of the demogorgons closing in around her and clawing at her.
She woke up relieved each time that it was just a dream.

She hadn't seen Billy since the cabin and honestly didn't want to.
He caused enough damage after beating Steve to a pulp.
Lana wasn't ready to see his face.
But, That strange pull constantly tug at her, wondering if he was okay.
Lana hated herself for feeling anything towards him.

Lana knew she had to finish the school year out, and she figured it would help her cope and get her mind off things.
She just wanted to feel somewhat normal.
Feel anything at all.

Steve, Nancy and Jim visited her regularly, making sure she was holding up alright.
The kids also came to see her quite a lot.

Lana was grateful for the people she had in her life.
She never had a family honestly until she found Gavin, The Children and Steve.
And Jim, who was more of a father than her own.

Lana started to smoke more, take more pills to help her relieve her anxiety and stress, and slowly started to harden her heart to the world.
She took no notice of it.

But, Steve took notice but he couldn't stop it.
He tried, but some things, he now understood, You can't stop.

Steve could only be there for her.
Support and love Lana unconditionally, just as she would always do for him.
Steve knew school was starting back and knew all too well Billy Hargrove would come back around Lana.

Lana would have no idea just how much complicated things could get.
But, life has a way of throwing you curveballs.
Just gotta roll with the punches.
It's just another day in Hawkins.
