Eighteen years ago, about the same year Calantha was expecting, she held her husband closely. With hope in her eyes she stared into Brandon's and told him that she was pregnant. The day he found out was the best day of his life, but that night, even though Calantha was happy that she was going to be a mother again, she knew deep down that something bad was wrong with her child, her friend, Olivia was looking after Indigo. "Brandon, I have to go, but I'll be back really soon, ok?" Brandon was sitting in the living room about to call his mom to tell the good news, but when he heard his wife speak, he stopped what he was doing and turned off his phone. "Honey, is something the matter?" He asked as he got off the couch. "Yes. I don't know what it is but I'm positive it has to do with the baby." "Alright. I'll come with you." "Uh-no. You don't have to do that." "Why not? Don't you want me there with you as you find the help you need?" "It would be nice but you don't have to come-with-me." Brandon grabbed Calantha's wrists. "These are the things you get to do together when you're married. I want to go with you for everything." Brandon kissed Calantha and then they both smiled. "Well if you put it that way-." Calantha said and smiled.
They both packed their bags because they didn't know where they had to go to seek for help. They went to the airport and got a plane ticket to Finland. "Are you sure we need to go all the way to Finland for help with the baby?" "Trust me. I know where the help is provided. The best help is pointing in that direction." Calantha said. "Ok. Two tickets for the Finland plane." "I'm sorry but that plane is cancelled for the day. Our holiday starts after 4." Calantha flickered her fingers and it flashed over the ticket manager's head. "I'm sorry-that what I said was mistaken somehow-enjoy your flight." He said and handed two tickets to Brandon and he gave Calantha her ticket.
They boarded the plane and got in their seats. "Isn't this nice?" "Yeah-it's special. What's wrong with the baby?" Brandon was sure something was up and he knew better than to follow Calantha's story of 'The best help' was coming from Finland, of all places. "Um-sorry?" Brandon crossed his arms. "Ok. Ok. Look-I'll tell you why we're here and what we're going to Finland." Calantha exhaled. "When we first met, I wasn't completely honest with you. I know you're probably mad but I love you and that's more important right now. Don't shout in any way but...magic does exist." "Are you for real telling me the truth right now?" "Would we be sitting in this plane if I wasn't?" "You've got a point. So, when that man changed his mind about the plane being cancelled?" "Yep-that was me." "Wow!" "I was mortal like you once but the magic clicked right when my adoptive parents were killed back in World War 2." "That's why you fear that something's wrong with the baby. You think she or he has magic too?" "I don't know that-it could be a possibility?"
"I've read that deep in the forest of Finland that an Isle exists. They call it The Isle of Forgetfulness. Mermaids live there and they have the power I need to know what's wrong with our child-they'll know if something seems off." "So, is every single myth and legend real?" "Only the practical ones. Big foot, the lock ness monster, Dracula, werewolves, the invisible man, all rubbish nonsense who don't exist. Intolerable creatures such as fairies, trolls, goblins, mermaids, unicons, special fragile gnomes, witches, wizards, and elves do exist." "Seriously? That's awesome!" "Yeah-I actually want to meet the elves one day. Maybe we can go with our baby one day!" Yeah-maybe-if we survive these mermaids." "What do you mean by that?" "I've heard that mermaids actually drown their victims." "That's only if you betray them. They're harmless or so I've read." "Ok-is that everything? No more secrets you'd like to share?" "There is one other thing and I know I should've told you before but my mom is The Queen of Hearts." Brandon was shocked that his eyes popped. "The Queen of Hearts from Wonderland is your mother?!" "Yes. I found out the hard way." "Wha-hard way!" "Yeah-I had to ambush a wizard just to recover the memories my birth mother took from me. She never loved me-never cared for me-all she did was replace me." "That's horrible." "Tell me about it. My father was more loyal than she ever will be. I never want to see her again." "That's understandable."
