Chapter 20: The Intervention

The clock rang at midnight and chimed 12 times. The bells could be heard from across Gooseberry Orchards and by Axel and Samantha. They noticed that it's gotten so late and then the moon turned purple. "What's going on over at the castle?" Axel asked. Samantha turned her head and saw the lights. "I don't know. We should go check it out." Samantha said and they got up from the wooden bench, said goodbye to Stella Troll, ran down the hill, and down the pebbled trail all the way to the Elf Castle. The moon was at its highest peak and a ray of purple light glowed directly above the castle. Axel and Samantha made it to the Elf castle and ran up the 500 steps to a celebration they didn't realize was going on. The balloons were set free and fireworks lit up the sky. Axel and Samantha entered the grand hall and saw that everyone was out in the courtyard so they walked through the dining room and out the blue glass doubled doors. "Wow." Axel said, as he looked at the crowd. Samantha looked in amazement as she smiled. "Is this a party?" An elf that wore a red suit saw the newcomers and he said, 'Yes, King Hemfort's', and walked to the snack bar. Queen Trixie, Peril, and Nick were staring at a strange tall woman wearing a black cloak. She was wearing a crown-but it wasn't hers.

"I'm going to say this only once so you better listen! What I want from you is simple-the throne. If you dare neglect my request, I will strike but if you allow me to take on the position of Queen, then I won't kill your father or husband." The Evil Queen said. Queen Trixie stood forward. "I will not let you torment my kingdom. You don't have the power to destroy us so stop bluffing before I give you a piece of my mind." "Oh, was that supposed to scare me? Do you honestly think I would fall for that, Goldie, huh? I'm practically old enough to be your mother in law, maybe a little bit longer because of my curse and 500-year difference." The Evil Queen said. Nick was scared when he stepped back that his emotions took control and his mother took action against his wishes. His hair blazed with purple flames and black devilish thorns sprouted from his head and arms with smoke blowing right from his nose. The Evil Queen looked at him, not knowing he had magic as well. "When did you get magic?" She asked. "That's none of your concern! You are rotten indeed but there's one thing they forgot to tell you in villain school-never revolt. But it seems you have broken free from your prison. I'm going to make this clear-if you ever hurt anyone that's my friend or your enemy, you will die-whether it's coming from me or someone else." Nick said with his monster voice.

Axel and Samantha looked around for Nick and Peril both ways before noticing them about to get killed by the arrogant Evil Queen. "Oh my god." Axel said and started running with Samantha up the side stairwell. "Don't test me." The Evil Queen said and a purple glowing aura shimmered her head and the crown transformed into a golden tiara with a ripped trim down the side. "That crown isn't yours!" Queen Trixie shouted. "I don't care." The Evil Queen silenced Queen Trixie. Axel and Samantha stood by Nick. "Nick, what's going on?" Axel whispered. Nick turned his head and he stopped blazing. "Where were you guys?" "We were at the willow tree in Gooseberry Orchards." Samantha said. "Why?" Nick asked. "I remembered something that happened in my past so I went there with Axel and we talked for a while." "There's something you need to know." Samantha said. "There's no time for that." Nick said and The Evil Queen saw new faces so she moved over to them.

"Who might you two be?" The Evil Queen asked crossing her arms. "I'm Axel and this is Samantha. You must be The Evil Queen?" "That's right but I'm not one to love introductions." The Evil Queen said, flicked her finger at Axel's forehead, and he felt dizzy. "What's...going...on?" Axel said and fell to the floor. "Axel?" Samantha asked, concerned. She looked back up at The Evil Queen and stared at her with a death stare. "Alright, I've had it up to here with angry villains who say they want their revenge and plot to get it." Samantha said and pushed her magic right at The Evil Queen and she flew over the balcony and fell on the tiled flooring. The purple light shined on Samantha and The Evil Queen as they started fighting. Samantha got to the grand hall and everyone made room for the two women so they could duel to the death. The Evil Queen jumped right back up and covered the bruises. "Ok, you want a fight? Bring it." She said. Samantha was blasted into the air by The Evil Queen's dark magic that she possesses and plopped on the dessert table. Nick, Queen Trixie, and Peril went to go find King Hemfort and King Rygart of Arochna. They slipped away and entered a long corridor filled with many portraits of Trixie and her family tree. At the end of the hall was a massive door that seemed to be locked. "How ominous, they have to be in here." Queen Trixie said. "Stand back." Peril said and blasted the door open with his bare hands. "Nice one!" Nick said. They rushed in and found King Hemfort and King Rygart tied up, unconscious.
