Extra: Soulmate AU - On your 16th birthday, a place on your body is greyed-out and that is the first place your soulmate touches after you both turn 16. So, even if somebody already grabbed your wrist or something before you turned 16, they could still be your soulmate. Sorry it's a day late :///"Five minutes!" I exclaimed with a wide grin as I grew more and more nervous. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as I bounced on my bed.
"Calm down, girl," Ender said with a smile.
"You don't know what it's like to know that, in five minutes, I'll finally be able to start looking for my soulmate," I said.
"Well, I'll know in less than a month so you better be ready to stay up till midnight on the phone so we can both see where mine is," he said. I nodded in agreement.
"Of course, I will. I'm still upset that we can't do this in person. Of course we had to move two weeks before I turned 16," I complained. Ender nodded and checked the time again.
"Still have three minutes. God! Why is time going so slowly?" He complained.
"What happened to it not being a big deal?" I asked, teasing Him. He rolled his eyes.
"Don't be mean!"
We were quiet until we heard the grandfather clock in his hallway striking midnight. I perked up and started checking my arms. I stopped when I saw Ender staring at me with his mouth open and eyes wide. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
"It's on your neck," he said. My jaw dropped before I ran to the bathroom and stared at myself in shock.
It was on my neck, going down onto my chest. I pulled my shirt off and my chest down to my upper stomach was greyed out. I furrowed my eyebrows at myself and turned to check my back. There were arm-like marks coming from around my stomach and I noticed that, from my shoulders to my fingertips, one side of both my arms was grey out. It was a huge mark.
Luckily though, it looked like I was going to end up hugging my soulmate. So, hopefully, we'd already be close when I met them.
I sighed as I walked back into my room, my shirt still in my hand.
"I'm gonna hug my soulmate," I said, sitting back on my bed. Ender's eyes widened, likely at the fact that my shirt was off, but he nodded.
"Lucky. Yours is gonna be so easy to find," he said. "Lucky bitch."
"Whatever. Well, I start school tomorrow so I better get some sleep for my first day. Night, bitch," I said before hanging up. I got a text from him a few seconds after I hung up.
'Night bitch'
~~Time Skip~~
I slammed the button on my alarm and rolled over.
"Come on. Get u-oh my," I heard my mom say as she rolled me towards her. "Your...mark."
I sighed and sat up, rubbing my eyes.
"Yeah, I know. I'm up," I said. She gave a thin smile before walking out of my room. I stood up and got ready for school.
I stared at myself in the mirror. Mostly my mark. I sighed as I walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs.
"I'm heading to school, Mom!" I called to my mom, who was upstairs getting ready for work.
"Okay! Love you, sweetie! Have a great day at school!"
"Love you too!"
I walked outside with a sigh. I was pretty scared joining the sophomore classes in the middle of the year. Especially with the mark being so obvious on my neck and arms. I didn't really want to take my jacket off.
