Chapter 30

Back at work, Mina sifted through the endless paperwork. It was another day of signing, meetings, answering phone calls, and just normal business ordeals. 

At the moment, it was the odd time between lunch and breakfast. Most called it brunch but this point in time wasn't exactly a lunchtime, nor a breakfast time according to Mina's schedule. Anyway, after going through her paperwork for another hour or two Mina finally received a text. 

"Meet me at my office in 20," it read. 

It was from Jaemin. 

Mina wondered why Jaemin would ever say something like this. But usually it meant something important. Grabbing her coat and purse, Mina quickly walked out of her office and headed towards the elevator. Anna, her assistant, followed closely behind. 

"Madam, where are you headed to?" Anna said as they waited for the elevator. 

"I'm going to Mr. Na's office. Something important has come up and it requires my attention immediately. Postpone all of my meetings for now. If I don't make it back, just cancel them. I should be back by noon. Until then, don't call me." Mina replied. 

The elevator arrived and she stepped inside, pressing ground level. 

"Make sure all the meetings still go accordingly. I want a thorough update of exactly what is discussed in all the meetings that I happen to miss. Any important phone calls, just say that I'm not in at the moment." 

The doors closed and Mina let out a small breath. Opening up her phone, she searched for Jaemin's number in her contact list. It wasn't hard to find, since Jaemin was one of the people she frequently contacted these days.

"Hello?" He picked up.

"Hey. What's going on?" Mina asked. 

"Oh hey. Yeah. I need to talk to you. In person. And it's an important matter." Jaemin replied. 

"So important that you ask to see me in person?" 

Jaemin hummed positively in response. 

"Alright. Well, I'm headed your way. I'll be there in a little bit." Mina said. 

"Okay." 

"Okay, by—"

"Wait!" Jaemin said. 

"Hm?" Mina replied. 

"Um....I love you." Jaemin said before quickly hanging up. 

Mina opened her mouth to reply but Jaemin had already hung up. Letting out a small laugh, Mina stepped out of the elevator and into the parking garage. Anna had called for one of the valets to get her car for and it was parked near the entrance. 

Mina drove over to Na Inc. and met up with Jaemin outside. 

"Hey," she said, stepping out of her care to give him a hug. 

"Hey, beautiful." He said, giving her a kiss. 

She laughed. "You are so rude you know that?" 

Jaemin tilted his head in confusion. "What?" 

"You hung up on me before I got to say I love you back!" Mina said. 

Jaemin laughed. "I was nervous." 

"About what?" She asked as they walked into the skyscraping building. 

"I guess I was just nervous that you weren't comfortable with me saying that...after..you know.." 

Mina punched Jaemin out of the blue. 

"OW! What was that for?!" Jaemin said, holding his side in pain. 

"For being stupid." Mina replied. She punched him again. 

"OW!! What was that for??" Jaemin asked. 

"For doubting me." Mina said. 

Jaemin grabbed both of Mina's hands. "Okay, okay. I get it. No more punching. I'm sorry, I'm sorry." 

Letting out a hearty laugh, Mina freed her hands and let Jaemin properly hold her hand as they walked into the elevator that would take them to Jaemin's office. 

Once they walked into Jaemin's office, Mina noticed Detectives Kim and Chang in the room. 

"Detectives." Mina greeted. They both acknowledged her entrance. 

Jaemin set down his coat and took a seat behind his desk. 

"Jaemin...what's happening?" 

"Madam Lee. We've been asked here to discuss the next moves in rescuing Miss Yeseul from the Killer Babes." Mr. Kim said. 

"Okay," Mina said, taking a seat before Jaemin's desk. "I'm listening." 

"As of right now, we only know that these women are holding Yeseul somewhere in the country. But we don't know exactly where. We have informants that are saying they are here in Seoul and only used the getaway as a distraction." Mr. Kim continued. "The plan right now is to search the entirety of Seoul to see if we can find them." 

"That's just a waste of time. It'll take weeks, possibly months to search every corner of Seoul." Mina protested. 

"Well that's where plan B comes in. We need someone to squeeze information out of Yerim. She's our only lead right now and we've already determined that she is working with the Killer Babes." Mr. Chang added. 

"But I've already tried—"

"I'm going." Jaemin interrupted. 

Mina turned to Jaemin in shock. "What?!"
