Chapter 20

Normal POV

Human World

The Harrison's were very nice and welcoming as well.

That is, after their kid spent almost 24 hours educating them on the existence of the supernatural world and also revealing that she'd been able to see supernatural creatures from when she could walk and talk.

Of course the family was afraid of Zeddein a little bit but he couldn't care less.
The only time he was shocked, from when he began to live in the house with the family, was the day Mr Harrison announced over dinner that he'd decided to adopt the demon as his child and Zeddein knew that Cassandra most certainly had a hand in and also influenced the decision to adopt him into their nice little family.
Zedd was surprised and happy all at once.
He sputtered due to lack of words to convey how he felt at that moment but Cassandra came to his aid, elbowing him in the ribs, forcing him to cough, his eyes widened before he suddenly dropped down on one knee.

"Please accept my gratitude" he bowed his head, a fist placed over his chest, where his heart was, as a sigh of respect and gratitude.
"Erm? You're welcome?" Mr Harrison was at a loss for words at the actions of the young man.
"Oh, Zedd, you don't have to be so formal with us. We're family now. I'll always accept a hug from you any day as thanks for anything I give you" Mrs Harrison cooed at Zedd, pulling him up and giving him a hug, which Zedd was quick to return, nearly lifting the woman off the ground.
Mr Harrison coughed and Zedd let the woman go so he could also hug the man.
Cassandra pouted and complained, also getting a hug as well.

It felt nice.
To actually hold someone on his own accord without stiffening too much, bracing yourself for an attack or a harsh treatment.
He was happier now.

But as we all know, all good things must surely come to an end.
No matter how hard you try to keep everything together, they'll fall apet eventually.
And for a virtually cursed child like Zeddein, things fell apart in the most brutal and inhumane way possible.

The love was replaced with blind hate and rage.
Family was wrenched out of his hands again despite how tightly he held on to it.
He lost the affection and the care.
He lost everything all in one day.

Cursed is the king and cursed is his offspring.
They shall neither know peace nor love till they meet their end.

"Zedd, are you alright?" a soft voice pulled him out of his little reverie, scowling and blinking rapidly to clear his thoughts, he resumed his task. Mrs Harrison tilted her head to the side and stood up from her spot on the dining table, walking over to him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.
He stiffened momentarily and relaxed again upon realizing that the hand on his shoulder wasn't going to squeeze hard enough to break anything or dig claw-like nails into his flesh.

Even after living here for more than 3 years, he still wasn't as open to gentle touches, even from his foster parents, exempting his little game with Cassie, and he always seemed to tense up whenever a hand was placed on his shoulder or when his arm was tugged to get his attention.
He was quiet, very quiet, a character that Mr Harrison liked about him a lot, he was very observant and Attentive.
He'd gladly given Cassandra all the information she wanted on the demon world, as much as he knew, and had also given her a bit of his magic so she could have a little fun.

His best moment would be when he first took Cassandra flying.
He enjoyed her squeals of excitement as they soared high above the city and watched the sun set.
She had her arms wrapped around his neck while her bare feet were placed on his toes, his arms coming to wrap around her slim waist as he maneuvered them so his back was facing the setting sun as they hovered in the air.
The steady beat of his wings in a back-and-forth motion keeping them in one place.
