Chapter 1

Normal POV

The shadow territory was quite scary to begin with.
If not for the fact that Thundra was a powerful as he was, he'd have shit himself, like every other man normally would have. A weak man, probably.
The king chuckled to himself as he made his was through the forest, ducking under extending branches and meandering through trees, actually taking the time to avoid running into any form of wildlife as he advanced.

The foggy forests were filled with deadly creatures that surrounded the real shadow kingdom to guard against intruders and scare passers-by so as to keep the shadow demons as hidden an unknown as they have been over the centuries, like fairytales and legends.
It was funny how a race as powerful as the shadow demons still felt the need to hide under wards and illusions to keep their already feared and hardly believable existence a secret.
Thundra couldn't help his quiet laugh, shaking his head a bit as his laughter died down to a small fond smile the further he went into the forest, nearly past the magical foggy forest barrier.

Thundra had gone through the dreaded shadow forest and into the shadow palace to see the ruler of the shadow dimension but not for catching up, mind you.
He didn't go there for much though.
He only went there to collect the essence of the shadow demon god.
The blood of a demon god is so powerful that it grant a non-demon the powers of a demon or kill the non-demon in the process and it could even rebirth a dead mortal as a demon.

The thick black liquid sloshed around in the glass bottle as he walked.
One more essence to collect and his desire will be sure of being granted.

"Do you have what I asked for, lord Fiery?", Thundra's voice boomed in the throne room.
The red haired king smiled at his friend and walked closer to him for an embrace, much like a child giving his father hug.
"Welcome to my kingdom lord Thundra" lord Fiery smiled at his friend.
Thundra had expected such a welcome. After all he had helped Phoenix to become the ruler of the Fiery demons some 5 centuries ago.

The memories came flooding back and his heart swelled in admiration towards the younger demon who although, was a mere soldier in the Fiery army, decided to stand up for his people against the tyrant.
Thundra admired his bravery and led his army to Fiery territory to aid young Phoenix in his quest.
The tyrant was slain and the just man was crowned.

Phoenix owed Thundra his life after the great king had put in word on his behalf to ensure that he joined the ranks of the demon gods.
Even giving his blood to Thundra would not be enough to show his gratitude to the Thunderan god.

"Is that all you ask, lord Thundra?" Phoenix asked the older king
"Yes. That is all" Thundra assured Phoenix.

*************

Thundra went back to his kingdom contented and slightly sore due to the fact that he had to duel the shadow king for his blood.
Funny how despite actually having a good relationship with the shadow territory, he still had to pass his friend's test to be worthy of his essence.

Their weapons could be head clinking and clanking in the courtyard of the castle.

The concrete ground had numerous cracks as a result of multiple hits and the two gods occasional falls or slams.

Each dodging the attacks of the other and blocking exceptionally well, covering up any opening to ensure victory.

They were both excellent fighters and and slightly evenly matched.
Thundra had a more advantage because of his agility and better skill.
Flaring his wings in the shadow king's face to jolt the man, Thundra sidestepped to his left, mindful of the other king's equally armed right hand, taking the shadow king by the back of his head, fingers nearly crushing the sides of his head to get a better grip, and slammed him into the concrete that was the courtyard, face first, then disarming the fallen king quickly, leaving the man stunned and with a bloody face.
