after tommy's live, wilbur got off the server. there were still about two hours before you arrived, so he decided to maybe go and read the fanfic. he found out that george and sapnap had already read what was currently of it, and dream has probably read it, he just doesn't want to admit it.
he opened a new tab on google and searched up ao3. after doing so, he searched up heat waves in the search bar and there came the infamous story. just from scanning the first couple paragraphs, he noticed how well the writing was.
"props to this person for being so talented." he mumbled as he started reading. he kept cringing and slightly fanboying after every little thing once he reached the second chapter.
there was one part that had absolutely stunned him. "it explodes in dream's chest all at once; how badly he wants to grab a fistful of george's hoodie, kiss him senseless, and lower him to his knees. he could stroke his fingers across his ivory jaw. he could tilt his chin, have george look up at him with his dark, gleaming eyes. run a thumb across his swollen lips. see how easily he could make george wrap his lips around it." wilbur read out loud in one breath, screaming afterwards. he ended up coughing, because he didn't inhale after reading all of it.
his body got a bit hot as he continued reading. he couldn't stop thinking of that one paragraph, because all he could think about was him in dream's place, and you in george's. he bit down on his bottom lip, trying to stop himself from thinking about you in that way. but it was hard, especially because he's liked you for some time now.
"she reads this stuff?" he asked himself finally, realizing that he was only reading it because of you in the first place.
he felt as if his soul left his body every time one of the chapter summaries said that there were going to be sexual elements in them. it was strange, reading about two of his friends. it was weirder, because of the sexual tension in the book. it was even weirder, because all he could think about was you.
he hurriedly finished the fic and then went to wash his face with cold water. he patted his face dry with a towel and went back to his seat in front of his setup. red dm pings popped up on his discord, so he clicked it. they were from tommy.
