It was the night of the ball. You were nervous but at the same time excited. You had read a lot of stories about medieval balls with princes and princesses. You were excited to be living in one, even if it was a dream. Hugh had said he would escort you to the ball and you were now waiting for him. You glanced at the mirror and how your dress looked.
The dress touched the floor and the fabric was a silver color. It was a ball gown and it hugged your waist before forming a ball gown. There were no sleeves. It was a floral lace dress that was elegant and beautiful. Across your torso, there was a silk fabric, the same color as the dress, that wrapped around your arms and met in the back, this acted as your sleeves.
The fabric was soft and elegant. Your hair was pulled up in an up-do and your make-up was soft, but the maids had put red lipstick on to make them stand-out. You heard a knock on the door and you walked to it, opening the door. Standing in front of the door was Hugh. He was wearing a grey tux that matched yours.
His silver hair matched the suit and his green eyes were perfectly matched with the tie. You noticed a small blush on his face, and you felt a small blush on yours.
" You look beautiful tonight, my lady. "
" You don't look too bad yourself. "
" I've got to impress. "
" You're doing a good job so far. "
He held his arm out and you rested your arm on top of his. Your hand rested on top of his and you both started walking down to the ball. You felt butterflies in your stomach from your touching hands. You had developed a small crush on the man in the time you knew him. He was handsome and kind to you.
Most guys in reality were harsh and judgmental but Hugh wasn't like them at all. So, you were really happy to have Hugh with you. He walked you to the doors of the ballroom and opened them for you. When you entered the ballroom there were a lot of people inside the room, dancing and laughing away. You looked around and felt claustrophobic by how many people were in the room.
" Don't worry, I'm here. " Hugh whispered in your ear.
Then in an instant images started flashing quickly in your head. Images of you dancing with multiple people and you didn't think you moved from your spot. When the images left you felt tired and exhausted.
" You danced with a lot of people tonight. " Hugh said to you.
" I did? "
" Yes, and you look tired. I'll go get you a drink. "
You nodded and Hugh left you. You were left wondering what happened. The dream walker never mentioned what that was and you were left to wonder what was happening.
" That was a time skip. " Someone whispered in your ear.
You turned around ad was met with blonde hair and blue eyes. His skin was pale but his lips were red. He smiled down at you in his attire.
" Dongen. "
" Actually, in this scenario, I am King Albert. And I've told you my real name. "
" Ji-Young? "
" Exactly, I'm glad you heard it before we came to this new dream. I didn't want to repeat my name. "
" Well, King Albert how have you been since the start? "
" Not bad. I can get used to being a king. "
" What's a time skip? "
" A lot of boring things happen in a dream. Your mind skips those so you won't have to view them. They're the boring parts. For example, to you, it felt like you stood there the entire time, but the time skip showed you dancing with others. It gave you the effect of being tired after you saw those images so you wouldn't have to actually do them. Your mind deemed it a waste of time. "
" So, that's why I feel tired. "
" Exactly why. "
" I wanna sleep. "
" You can't yet, it's your ball after all. You need a husband. "
" I don't need one. "
" Then you want one. "
" That's not what I meant either-"
" Here is your drink my lady. "
Hugh came back and handed you a drink. You held it in your hands not wanting to drink the champagne. You noticed Ji-Young's aura turn darker and he glared at Hugh. You grabbed Hugh's hand, making him blush. You slowly nodded at Ji-Young not liking his aura. He rolled his eyes and left you both.
" Well, that was interesting. I thought he was going to yell at me. "
" I thought he would too. "
" Let's go get some fresh air. "
You nodded and followed Hugh. Hugh took you outside and the night air hit your skin and your shoulders relaxed with the cool breeze. You set the champagne down on the way out of the ballroom and Hugh now held both of your hands.
" Have you found a husband yet? "
" Not yet. "
" Any ideas?"
" What about you Hugh? "
" M-Me? "
" Yes, you. We've known each other for years and I trust you to run the kingdom with me. "
' Even though I won't be here for long. I'll probably move on to the next dream soon. '
" Are you sure, Y/n? You would have to marry me and-"
" Hugh. "
You grabbed his arms and brought him closer to you. His face had turned red and he held your arms back.
" I trust you. "
" Y-Y/n I'll make you proud of me! I'll prove to you that you made the right decision. I won't let you down. "
" I know you won't. "
Hugh hugged you tightly in the moonlight. You smiled at the warmth that radiated off of him. You hugged him back and welcomed the warmth. Behind the doorway, a certain blonde king was watching the scene before him. His eyes darkened and his stomach twisted with something he had never felt before.
Jealousy. He had never wished that the dream would change quicker in his life. He wanted to rip you two apart and change the story himself, but he doesn't have the power to do that. No one had the power to change the dream. All Ji-Young had was his knowledge from years of being a Dream Walker.
But that knowledge can't help him when it comes to you. Because he doesn't have any power over you or anything to control your dreams.
