Shippo's POV
Everyone was happy one moment and the next everyone including myself is panicking and worrying.
"Kagome, Kagome wake up," Papa says urgently, begging for Mama to wake up.
"Mama wake up please," I beg and start shaking her shoulder lightly. I felt my eyes fill up with tears.
"Come on, come on Kagome wake up," Papa say lightly shaking her but stopped when she whimpered.
Mama started to cry in her sleep like state. What was wrong with Mama? I wanted to know.
"Papa what is wrong with Mama?" I ask, tears streaming down my face.
"Mama is just going through a little bit of pain right now," Papa says.
I know Mama is strong, but I don't think this is a little pain. I think this is a lot of pain. I just hope Mama can get through this.
Inuyasha's POV
"Kagome, Kagome wake up," I say, begging her to open her beautiful chocolate eyes.
"Mama wake up please," Shippo says, putting his hands on her shoulder and shaking it lightly.
"Come on, come on Kagome wake up," I shake her lightly as well only to be answered with Kagome's cries of pain.
"Papa what is wrong with Mama?" Shippo asks, he's crying, fat tears rolling down his cheeks. I know he doesn't want to those another Mama and I know I don't want him to go through that pain again either.
"Mama is just going through a little bit of pain right now," I say.
I know Shippo should know the truth, I just don't want him to be more scared then he already is.
The find blows and I catch the sent of jasmine. This herb will help Kagome relax. I hear Kaede's voice. Foxglove.
I set Kagome on the ground and reach into my robe and pull out the canvas bag Kaede gave to me. I reached in saw the herb needed to be chewed. Without thinking I put it in my mouth and begin to chew. Once it's broken done enough for Kagome to swallow I open her mouth and transfer the herb into her mouth. She involuntarily swallows it, and her body immediately begins to lose tension.
Her cries lessen to the occasional whimper and I relax myself. When Kaede said this will help Kagome relax she must of meant it will ease her pain. Thank goodness she is alright. For now.
"We are going to stay here for the night," I say looking down at Kagome.
"Inuyasha, Miroku and I are going to gather the wood for tonight, so that you don't have to leave Kagome's side. We are also going to catch some fish later on for dinner," Sango says.
I just nod in reply not wanting to say anything. She's right I don't want to leave Kagome's side and I wouldn't any ways.
They leave taking Doru and Kirara with them. Shippo refuses to go and I know he wants to stay with Kagome and not leave her just like me.
I place Kagome's head in my lap and make sure she is comfortable. I know Kagome was feeling pain to day yet I didn't ask her about it. What kind of mate am I to her? I knew she would have just said I am fine Inuyasha like she does every time. She is too selfless. She needs to tell us when she is in pain. She needs to tell me. With everything that is going on we can't afford for her not to tell us when she is in pain. She could die before we get to the priestess in the Northern Mountains.
Hours passes and I continue to sit in that exact same spot, listening to the study beat of Kagome's heart. I ate the fish Sango and Miroku caught.
When it was time for everyone to go to sleep, I had manage to get Kagome into a sleeping bag and a pillow under her head. Shippo laid curled at her side. I smiled and said goodnight to him. I leaned against a tree not far from them and decided I would keep watch.
Half way through the night Kagome began to whimper again and I gave her more herb and gave her a drink of water. I could feel her pain. It was radiating from two spots her chest and her head. I know at this point the darkness is probably trying to take a piece of Kagome's soul and she is fighting back like she always does.
"Inuyasha," I hear a whimper.
My head whips towards Kagome so fast that I am surprised that I didn't get whiplash.
"Hey there, how do you feel?" I say brushing some of her hair back.
"My head and chest hurts," she whimpers and begins to bring a hand up to touch her head.
"Can I have a look?" I ask. I need to see if her wound reopened and that is the reason for the pain in her chest.
She nodded and I pulled her robe back, her shirt up. The bandages did not look to be full of blood. So I peeled them back and had to stop the gasp of shock from coming from my mouth. I didn't want to worry Kagome. Her wound had a black glow around it like and aura and look to be an angry red colour.
"What's wrong?" She whimpers in pain.
"Nothing, don't worry, Kagome," I say kissing her forehead before putting the bandages and her clothing back into place.
Kagome doesn't need to worry about anything right now. She just needs to focus on getting better so that we can make to the Mountains.
"Inuyasha I'm tired," Kagome whispers. Her eyes are glazed over.
"Go to sleep then, you need your rest if we are going to make it to the Mountains," I say and kiss her forehead.
I lay down beside her and wrap an arm around her, mindful of Shippo.
"Goodnight my love," she whispers.
"Goodnight my mate," I say and rest my head against hers and allow myself to sleep.
