Through the Well

Chapter ~1~

"I can't believe you would call me that Inuyasha! I thought we were friends and over these kinds of thing!" I yell at him, my eye burning with a growing anger and sadness.

I had thought Inuyasha and I were over all this stuff and were going to try and strengthen our friendship, but that he goes and calls me a jewel shard detector. Everytime he calls me this it brings tears to my eyes and I wonder why I ever stayed by his side, then I feel bad about thinking like that because I know that I love Inuyasha too much to leave him. Tears trickle down my cheeks and I wipe them away. I look Inuyasha in the eyes to see any regret and there is none.

I turn and run away. My legs burned. My lungs burned. My heart was painfully beating against my ribs. I just continued to run blindly through Inuyasha's forest, tears streaming down my face. Why does he do this, I thought after everything we have been through Inuyasha would start to think of me as a friend, not just a jewel shard detector. I just continued to run, until I collasped on the ground in a sobbing mess.

Pain was in my legs as I tried to stand up and I realised I had severely scraped my knees and had dark bruises forming. I guess I fell harder then I thought. I stood up, using a tree fro support and tried to walk. I managed a couple of steps, and then I started to fall. Arms wrapped around me and prevented me from falling. Looking up, I noticed Inuyasha's golden amber eyes staring down at me. I looked away tears prickling at the corner of my eyes.

"Kagome that wasn't me, it was one of Naraku's incarnations, that can control what he looks like, and can make his aura seem pure," Inuyasha said, tightening his hold on me.

"B-but how is that possible?" I asked looking into his eyes.

"I don't know, Kagome but I swear that wasn't me," he said. "Kagome, you're my best friend, not a jewel shard detector."

"Really Inuyasha?" I asked, tears of happiness, coming to my eyes.

"Really," he said back.

"Oh Inuyasha," I cried hugging him.

Inuyasha and I embrace. Seconds feel like minutes, minutes feel like hours and hours feel like days. I love it. Inuyasha warmth washed over me, embracing me just like his arms. I snuggled into Inuyasha neck and enjoyed the warmth. Pain flared up my legs and my knees buckled. Inuyasha placed me on the ground.

"Kagome, what happened?" Inuyasha, had concern in his eyes.

"I fell pretty hard, when I was running," I said looking away.

"Okay," he nodded. "I'm bringing you to Kaede," I nodded, wrapping my arms around his neck.

Suddenly a dark aura started to surround my senses. An evil laugh sounded through the forest. Oh no. A figure started to walk toward us. Blue hair, muscular body, as tall has Sesshomaru, the man who was laughing walked into my view. Inuyasha set me down and stepped in front of me drawing his Tetsusaiga.

"Well, well, Inuyasha that was a pleasant sight to watch," the man said.

"What the hell do you want you b@$tard?" Inuyasha growled.

"The name is Ankoku, I was sent here by Naraku to kill the women you protect behind you," Ankoku said.

"Well that is not going to happen," Inuyasha growled furiously.

"We will see about that," Ankoku said, raising his hand.

Strands of darkness shot out of his hands and wrapped around Inuyasha flinging him towards a near by tree, pinning him to it. Inuyasha started to struggle, but couldn't break away from the tree, the Tetsusaiga was on the ground.

"Let Inuyasha go!" I yelled.

"Haha, so you are the girl Naraku has sent me to kill," Ankoku chuckled. "You are rather beautiful, maybe I will play with you a little before I kill you," I shank back fear invading my eyes, that just made him laugh more.

"Leave Kagome alone, you b@$tard!" Inuyasha yelled.

"Inuyasha you need to learn how to be more quiet," Ankoku snarles.

A strand of darkness shot out and grasped the handle of Tetsusaiga. The barrier around Tetsusaiga engaged but it didn't seem to harm Ankoku at all. Oh no, he is going to kill Inuyasha. I have to stop him. I ran towards Inuyasha, Ankoku started to shoot the sword toward Inuyasha. I ran faster, but everything seems to slow motion. I jumped in front of inuyasha blocking him, from the attack. The sword went through my chest, I gasped. Ankoku's darkness seeped into my body, blood poured out of my chest with every beat of my heart. I fell to the ground.

"KAGOME, KAGOME WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?" Inuyasha yelled at me.

"Well, I guess my work here is done," Ankoku said, disappearing into the darkness.

"It's okay, Inu- Inuyasha you always protect me, now I have pro- protected you," I said, gasping slightly, as Inuyasha placed my head in his lap.

"Kagome, you can't die, you can't. I can't live without you, I can't. I love you Kagome, I love you." Inuyasha said, tears gathering at the corner of his eyes.

"I love you too Inuyasha," my breathing became heavy. Darkness appeared at the corner of my eyes.

"Kagome, Kagome," Inuyasha continued to whisper my name. He buried his face into my neck.

"Inuyasha," I whispered, I reached my hand up and stroked his hair.

I could feel my blood seeping out of my chest, and I felt Inuyasha's tears on my neck.

"It's o- okay, I will always lo- love you, even in death," I whispered, the darkness invaded my vision more.

"No Kagome, don't say it like a goodbye," Inuyasha said pressing his face more into my neck.

"I am afraid that it is goodbye Inuyasha," I whispered.

"No, no Kagome, no" Inuyasha said raising is face from my neck. Tears streamed down his face. Ears drooped.

"I love you Inuyasha" I said and gave him a small smile.

"Kagome, I love you too," Inuyasha whispered.

Leaning down, Inuyasha lips touched mine. My eyes closed and I kissed back, my heart slowed down. The last thing I felt was Inuyasha's lips on mine.
