I laid on the couch, pretty much ignoring the case. I couldn't help, I couldn't say anything, no one could touch me...I could die.
"What do you want me to do?" Spencer asked.
"Just keep working on this, if anyone can put it together you can. And keep an eye on her, but don't touch her, and don't let her talk." I didn't look up when he crouched down next to my head.
"Are you ok?" I shook my head. People are dead, and it's all because of me.
~~~
I kicked over a chair, falling to the ground crying. Elle had been shot by the unsub...and it's all my fault. I don't even know what I did. Spencer reached out, but I moved away from him, shaking my head. No more rules will be broken. No one else is going to die...I'll make sure of that.
~~~Spencer~~~
"The Path to the end, began at his start. To find her first calm, Her long broken heart. She sits in a window, with secrets from her knight, is it adventure that keeps him, out of her sight. Another Puzzle?" Garcia asked.
"It's a riddle. Began at her start...her...The youngest holds the key. Sits in a window, secrets, adventure... " It's mom. I picked up the phone. "I need to be connected to the field office closest to Las Vegas, Nevada immediately. Hi, this is Dr. Spencer Reid with the behavioral analysis unit at Quantico. Look, I need my mother picked up and brought to Virginia in protective custody as soon as possible. We're searching for an unsub who shot one of our agents today, and I think he might know my mother and I believe she may be in danger. yes. She's at the Bennington Sanitarium in Las Vegas. Her name's Dianna Reid. She's a patient there."
~~~
"She's ok...your mom. Agents picked her up." Garcia said. I nodded.
"I forgot she used to always read me this poem. It's funny huh?"
'Funny?"
"I should have realized sooner. I mean, no one knows things like the fact that JJ collects butterflies except for me. People tell me their secrets all the time. I think it's cause they know I don't have anyone to betray them to, except my mother."
"What about Marianne?" She asked.
"I don't tell her as much as I probably should..."
"Maybe you should start. She really cares about you, you know that, don't you?"
"Yeah...I care about her too, it's just...I don't want to lose her."
"Have you met Marianne? Do you honestly think, that if she's still with you after the whole Lila ordeal, that telling her about yourself is going to scare her off?"
"No...did you know that Schizophrenia is genetically passed?"
"Spencer, you have to tell her-"
"She'll already know, about it being genetically passed. What she doesn't know, is that my mother is schizophrenic. Being the person she is, she's not going to pry. She's letting me wait until I'm ready to tell her."
"Spencer...you've met Marianne. You care about her, maybe are even in love with her. If you don't tell her, and she finds out some other way...I don't know if she'll forgive you."
~~~
I poured myself a cup of coffee.
"That's why your so skinny, you know.' I looked at my mom. "Too much coffee."
