The music in the bar was way to loud for my taste. It was Superbowl Sunday, and my Twenty-first birthday, so the team decided to take me out for drinks.
"Are you ready?" Emily Prentiss asked. I shrugged, picking up the glass of some kind of alcohol. I don't remember what it was. I took a sip.
"Oh, how do you guys drink this stuff? It's repulsive!" I asked, gulping it down. The others laughed. Derek was dancing with a bunch of girls, Hotch and his wife went to dance, JJ was playing darts, Garcia was who knows where, and Emily and I were watching everyone. I looked at Spencer, who was answering "Star Trek" trivia questions.
'Why don't you dance with him?" Emily asked.
"My boyfriend is Spencer Reid." I reminded her.
"So! You guys can slow dance. Surely he can do that." I shrugged. She sighed and walked over, grabbing his jacket.
~~~Spencer~~~
Emily grabbed my jacket.
"Are you forgetting that it's your girlfriend's birthday? Go and dance with her."
"I can't dance.'
"You can slow dance. I don't care, just go talk to her, something. It's her birthday."
~~~Marianne~~~
Spencer came and sat down next to me. I rolled my eyes at Emily and stood in front of his stool.
"You don't have to stay here. You can go continue your conversation." I told him.
"It's your birthday." He said, taking my hands.
"I know. I don't like Alcohol, I don't." I said. he smiled.
"I didn't think you would."
"So...do you wanna come dance with me?"
'I can't dance."
"Well neither can I. We don't have to dance dance." He shrugged and followed me onto the dance floor. I took one of his hands and put the other on his shoulder. His arm wrapped around my waist and we danced. I let go of his hand and wrapped my arms around his neck. His arms wrapped around me and he buried his face in my shoulder.
"Happy Birthday, Marianne."
"Thank you, Dr. Spencer Reid." I looked at him and kissed him. I rested my forehead against his. JJ came up next to us.
"I'm really sorry, Marianne. We've got a case." I closed my eyes and nodded. She left and I looked at him.
"Duty calls." I said. I grabbed Spencer's hand and pulled him through the crowd. We got outside and the cold night air blew my hair around. He took his blazer off and handed it to me. I put it on. We got into his car and drove to the BAU.
~~~
"You know, it never fails. Just as I'm getting my groove thing going, bam! We're back at the BAU." Morgan said.
"You know, statistically, a case doesn't come in with any more frequency if you're at a party or a gathering then if you aren't." Spencer told him.
"You know what I mean. We all saw you and the birthday girl. You don't want to be here anymore then we do." I rolled my eyes.
"But is it really that hard for you to get your groove 'thang' going again?" Emily asked.
