I walked into Mia’s house and was immediately attacked by Brynn I laughed and smiled “I take it you’re ready to go.”

“It’s all she talked about for an entire week” Jake groaned coming down the stairs “don’t you have anything better to do on Christmas eve, eve?”

I smacked his shoulder “she’s excited and I could have done something else but I promised Brynn I’d take her skating so I’m going to stick to it” I said as Bob and Carol came in the living room.

“She loves you and is so excited about this, and thank you for doing this with her, even though Jake could he doesn’t” Carol said giving me a hug.

I smiled “it’s no problem I love Brynn too, ready munchkin?” I asked her grabbing her hand.

She nodded “let’s go, bye mom I love you, bye dad I love you, bye Jake” she said and we were out the door right after I yelled thank you and I drove to the closest ice house which was 20 minutes away. Brynn was singing Christmas songs the whole way there. We put on our skates and got onto the ice and started skating around, we brought our sticks and we passed the puck back and forth. She was only three but really decent. It was also only us on the ice for free skate which was fun.

“Ready Brynn?” I asked with the puck at the other end, she was timing me and counting how far I could skate to the other end while dribbling the puck.

“Go!” she yelled and I sprinted down the ice.

“4 Mississippi’s!” she said hitting her stick on the ice celebrating for me and I laughed at her. “You’re so good, and I know you and Mi will be with Kane and Crosby” she knows her hockey players.

“What team is Kane on?” I asked her.

“Blackhawks. and Crosby is on Penguins” she smiled because she knew she was right.

I nodded “yes, want to go get hot chocolate and then I can take you home” I said and she wasn’t too happy about the last part.

“I like that plan but the last part” she said and I knew it was coming.

“I don’t like the last part either but your mom will kill me because we’ve been here for almost two hours” I said as we got off the ice.

“Ok, but you can’t go home after you take me back. Stay with me and watch a movie, please?” she begged with her puppy dog eyes.

I gave in “ok we can watch a movie but it is already 8 o’clock” we put on our shoes.

“That’s ok with me”

“I thought it might be” I laughed and we started to leave but ran into Blake, of all people. “Hey Blake” I smiled.

“Oh hey Tori, I didn’t know this is where you played, who’s the little one?” he asked.

“I don’t play here, I play in Chicago and this is Brynn” I introduced them.

“Hi Brynn” he waved to her.

“Hi” she said quietly and hid in my leg.

“Is she your daughter?” he asked slowly.

I laughed “no, I’m not a mom but this is Mia’s little sister I promised I’d take her skating and now we’re going to get hot chocolate and watch a movie.”

“Oh I’m sorry about that” he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck “I saw you playing, you’re good.”

“It’s ok and thank you” I said and Brynn yawned “well I better get this one home, it was good to see you.”
