I woke up on my couch and freaked out for a second and then realized I fell asleep in the basement. I walked up stairs to the kitchen and grabbed a water bottle from the kitchen. I looked outside and it looked like someone was in our backyard. I walked to the sliding glass door and looked out it. It was 4:30 in the morning in the middle of January in the middle of the week, who the hell is here?
Whoever it was outside was coming to the door, so I locked it quickly and backed up and hid behind the counter, the person tried to open the door, I tried to look who it was but it was too dark out and if I were to run they’d see me. The person was banging on the door now and I was freaking out mentally. What sucks even more is that my dad isn’t home, so it’s just my mom and I. My dad was in Ohio for work and Troy was back at college. The banging continued so I jumped up and ran into my mom’s room and jumped on her bed.
“Tori what the hell?” she said. I had tears rolling off my cheek “Tori?”
I could hear the banging “I think someone is trying to break in through the back door” I whispered. She got up and locked her bedroom door and I was gripping an old stick.
“Call the police”
I grabbed the phone and dialed 911 “911 what’s your emergency?”
“Someone is trying to break into my house” I whispered and I heard the glass shattered “they’re here” I whispered and I was crying now.
“What’s your address ma’am?” the operator asked
“471 Clearwater Drive” I said and I heard other things breaking in the house and I cried harder but silently.
“There are officers minutes away please stay on the line with me, what’s your name?”
“Tori Brooks” I said and the door broke open and he knocked out my mom and looked right at me and he was really pissed he came over to the bed and grabbed my wrist forcefully and dragged me out of the house “no!” I yelled really loud “someone help me!” he tightened his grip, I was thrown into the trunk of an older car and he backed out and started driving off.
I kicked out the tail light and I kicked the trunk so hard it popped open and the man slammed on his breaks and I jumped out of the trunk and started running back towards my house, we were only a couple streets over. I cut through some backyards and I didn’t even stop at my house I just kept running with the man trailing behind me. I ran to Holden’s house and banged on the door “open the door please” I yelled and no one answered so I did what I thought was necessary, I ran through their front window making it shatter and Holden was running down the stairs and his dad ran out of his room.
“What the fuck is going on?” Brady looked at me “Tori?”
I stood behind Holden bawling my eyes out and I pointed out the window and the man came in through the window “do something please” I cried and I heard the police sirens and Brady gave the guy one good punch and he was unconscious. “I’m so sorry” I said.
“What the hell happened?” Holden asked me.
My mom, “shit!” I yelled and ran back to my house, I’ve never ran faster in my life. I saw my mom on the ground lifeless “mom” I croaked and I checked for a pulse and she had one thank god. I tried to wake her up and she wasn’t responding. Police officers and EMT’s busted in through the door.
“Where is the man that broke in?” an officer asked me.
“He’s across the street at the house with no front window” I said and started to cry when I saw my mom again.
“Hey Tori my name is Brandon and your gonna need to let go of you mom and come with me so I can get you checked out” a guy said.
“I’m not leaving my mom” I said firmly.
