The next week was busy for Mark. He applied at multiple jobs to work in the afternoon after his internship during the day. He finally got a call from a coffee shop that isn't too far away.
This morning he nervously walks into Lee enterprises, no relation. The receptionist eyes him down as he walks up.
"May I help you?" She asks in her most fake friendly tone.
"I'm a new intern here, for the uh... for the advertising department." She looks at his badge that he had acquired through the mail only a week ago.
"Floor 15, see the receptionist and they will tell you where to go." He thanks her a few times before heading to the elevator. He doesn't know why, even the reception is terrifying but here he is sweating buckets.
"Hello, I'm Mark Lee. I'm here for the internship in advertising." He says to the male sitting behind the desk. The said male smiles brightly.
"You have come to the right place, my name is Taeyong. Follow me and I will introduce you to your manager and coworkers." Taeyong stands and brings him through a set of doors.
"Ok over here to the left is the art department, we have an amazing group of artists here. This one here is Ten, we call him that because his name is too damn long and behind him is Renjun, he's a junior but he's moving up. His art has greatly improved." They both greet him graciously as he peeks at their computer screens to check out what they are working on.
"Over there is our production team and PR. Accounting is down the hall. Media and copy here and right through those doors is research which is where I believe you are headed." He walks into the room where he sees some people on their computers and others just playing around or doing nothing really.
"That is Lucas, and Xiaojun playing with the ball, Shotaro and Yuta at the experiment table and Yuta's longtime crush Sicheng AKA Winwin at the computer." Mark takes in his surroundings and observes his new coworkers who seem very interesting.
"Ah, there he is. This is your department manager Kim Doyoung. He is as smart as he is handsome." Mark chuckles which leads Taeyong to realize what he's done in front of his manager again. He walks off pouting while Doyoung just reaches out his hand in greeting.
"I'm going to pair you with Winwin first. He's the calmest of the bunch and I think he will be a good teacher. Of course respect your other coworkers opinions as well." He stands there looking expectantly at Mark before he figures out he hasn't introduced himself yet.
"Oh sorry, my name is Mark Lee and I'm so excited to be here working with all of you." He says while Doyoung just nods and walks off, leaving him to fend for himself. He walks up to Winwin and holds out his hand.
"Mark." He says excitedly. Winwin chuckles and shakes his head.
"You're cute." He says still shaking his head. Mark doesn't know if he should feel complimented or insulted.
"You should talk, I can see why Yuta has a crush on you." He says smiling, Winwin looks up startled.
"He what?" He asks blushing and looking over at the other who seems to be jealously looking in their direction.
"Oh nothing sorry. Just how about you show me where to begin?" Winwin nods nervously before taking one last look in Yuta's direction, while Mark is dying on the inside for his inability to know when he shouldn't talk. Winwin explains their department which basically when products come in they get to play with, inspect and sometimes deconstruct things to learn enough about it before their agency makes the ads.
His first day has him feeling like he is going to love his job. He already hit it off with all of his co workers and even some in other departments. He exits the building and gets ready to call a taxi when he sees Jeno leaning on his car and Jaemin sitting in the passenger seat waving.
"Hey guys, what are you doing here?" He asks happily.
"Well, to celebrate your first day on the job we are taking you out to eat." His smile widens as they start to ask him about his day.
During dinner they make small talk and he tells them about all of his new coworkers and how much fun the job is. They talk a little about school and other things too. When it's close to time to go jeno orders a meal of spaghetti and breadsticks with a side salad to go. Mark wonders but doesn't ask, he figures it's just for lunch tomorrow or something.
On the way home though when they stop at a house and Jeno gets out with the food Mark has to ask.
"What are we doing here?" He asks looking at the small but cute brown house that Jeno is walking up to.
"This is one of our closest friends, he is more close with Jeno but he is my friend too." Mark hums.
"Ok but why the food? Why didn't you just invite him with, I like meeting new people?" Jaemin shakes his head solemnly.
"It's not really my place to say, but I can say that he has Agoraphobia. He has severe anxiety and hasn't left his house for a year and a half I think?" Jaemin ponders while Mark is astonished to hear this.
"Oh my god! I've heard of that but. That must be hard." Jaemin sighs.
"It is really, it's really hard on Jeno sometimes even though he won't admit it. Sometimes if he's feeling particularly bad he won't let anyone but Jeno in, but some days he will come out on the deck to get some sun. Jeno feels like he can't do enough to help him yet he is always there for him. And before you ask, no I'm not jealous, I know they are practically brothers so I have nothing to worry about." Mark hums and shrugs. He watches as Jeno walks out the door only to get a glimpse of the side of the guys face, but even that wasn't a clear shot. Jeno makes it back to the car and kisses Jaemin.
"Haechan says hi." He says simply to Jaemin while Mark is still staring at the door of the house as they drive away. He knows asking anymore questions about him would get him no where so he just leaves it.
"Thank you guys for dinner, it was so good but I should shower and head to bed I have an early meeting tomorrow." He excuses himself and does his nightly routine before tossing and turning all night long thinking about that poor friend of Jeno's and what could have caused this. He finally drifts off to sleep thinking about the busy day he will have tomorrow.
