On day two Haechan received a cranberry orange muffin with a coffee drink and of course a note.

Day three he got a chocolate chip muffin and another drink with a note that read...
Today is where you start.

On day 4 he thought he would be clever and get up early in the morning but to his disappointment it was already there.

Dear Haechan,
I hope you have a great day!

This time the note was more personal and he has an idea that just maybe this is Jeno's cousin, because of course the initials. He hasn't said anything to Jeno, he doesn't want him to worry or set up a 24 hour surveillance on his house. He has a life too.
He decides this time he is going to leave a note himself so he sits down and composes one.

Dear ML,
Thank you for the snacks and drinks and for the lovely notes. I would like to know who you are. Don't worry your secret is safe with me.

He sits and stares at it for a long time. Is it too much? He doesn't want the other to think he's weird but he wants him to know how much he appreciates it. He has taped all of the notes to the back of his laptop and they are helping a small bit to keep him from getting too sad. He hasn't cut in a few days and he likes to attribute it to the mysterious or not so mysterious stranger.
He starts his school day after rereading all of the notes and hopes for a good day.

Mark starts his day like usual but he's happy that Jeno and Jaemin aren't making out in the kitchen everyday like they had threatened.
At work he notices that Yuta has gotten more talkative than before, he finally understands that Mark isn't a threat.
He sits through hours of work and enjoys most of it, the endless romantic drama that his fellow employees provide are an added bonus.
At the cafe he's bored, he's the only worker tonight but it's ok because it isn't that busy. He spends his time thinking about a project he is helping with at the office and how excited he is to be involved already. He ends up only having like 15-20 customers his whole shift. Tonight he decides to make an iced matcha latte and hope that Haechan is awake to get it. He's honestly just too tired to go to the convenience store so he grabs a cookie from their bakery stuff and rings it up and pays before quickly cleaning the machine and locking up.
He walks a little quicker tonight partly to see if he can catch him awake and partly because he's really tired and wants sleep.
When he walks up the steps he finds a cute box sitting there and a note on top that has his initials in cute writing. He's honestly touched and he hasn't even read it yet.
He sets his things down and slowly picks up the box while looking around. He reads the note first and is finding himself smiling ear to ear while he reads it over again. He takes time to open the box and he finds a whole plate of cookies. He smiles and looks at the closed door, wishing he could see this person and thank them. He sets down the box and starts writing a note. He backs away slowly, smiling the whole time.

Haechan finally did it. He seen him come, now of course he was wearing a hat and mask but he still got to see him leave it and take his gift too. He opens the note and smiles widely and giggles to himself.

Dear Haechan,
Thank you for the cookies, I'm sure they are delicious. I am Jeno's cousin Mark Lee. I don't know if he's talked about me but I hope it's good stuff anyway. This is my phone number, xxx-xxx-xxxx if you want to you can text me and we can talk more. I'd be happy to tell you more. Anyway, I hope you have a good night and enjoy the latte.

Haechan doesn't know why he can feel his heart flutter over a boy he's never seen, he considered asking Jeno to see picures but figured it would be funnier to try to see him in action.

Mark steps out of his shower and sees his phone lit up with a notification. He casually walks over to check, not thinking much about it and sees that Haechan has texted. It was a simple Hi but he started a dialogue and that is great.

Mark: hi. If you have questions about me go ahead and ask, or if you just want to talk.

Mark hits send and goes into his room and sits on the edge of his bed, it doesn't take long for a response which surprises him.

Haechan: I've heard a few things from Jeno. You must be tired from working two jobs everyday.

Mark smiles and nods even though he can't be seen.

Mark: I am, today especially, but it's ok. I need to work so here we are.

Haechan smiles on the other end, he's really enjoying this interaction and hopes it will continue.

Haechan: I've kept all your notes and I read them when I'm having a hard time so I really do thank you. But why are you doing this? 

Mark doesn't respond immediately because this one makes him think.

"Mark: Because I know that you are friends with Jeno and I am new here and figure if you are friends with him you must be a good person so I wanted to make friends with you too.

Haechan likes that answer a lot. He was honestly expecting an "I feel sorry for you",kind of answer.

Haechan: I'm going to go to bed now and you should too. Please message me tomorrow, whenever you want to. I have more questions. Good night.

Mark smiles fondly and he can understand completely why Jeno is his best friend. He's so cute and friendly, it really makes him wonder what happened in his life to make him so scared.

Mark: Good night Haechan, I will talk to you tomorrow.
