The Grandmother

"Amelia, why are you panicking? You have met them, they are nice people" Avinash asked without taking his eyes off the road while driving the car. As Avinash promised, he was taking Amelia to meet Nani.

But Amelia was continuously fidgeting in her seat and zoning out to some other world. Avinash was concerned about her. She was getting nervous for no reason. The Verma family already liked her.

"I am not panicking" Amelia denied pretty quickly and started looking out of the window.

"Whatever you say"

"I hope you remember everything by now" Avinash spoke up, parking the car and hoping for a positive answer.

"Yes, touch their feet to take blessings and say sau Putra bhava" Amelia explained with a bored expression and Avinash's face snapped up at her at a lightning speed.

"WHAT!? Are you even okay?" Avinash raised his hand and touched her forehead with the back of his hand to check if she had a fever. Amelia swatted his hand back and frowned towards him.

"What are you doing?"

"Checking if you have a fever"

"But why?"

"Because you just said 'may you have a hundred sons' in Hindi" Avinash explained and started laughing loudly, throwing his head backward. Amelia grumbled something incoherently.

"What do I wish them then?"

"You don't need to wish them anything. It's not a festival or anything. Why would you wish them?" Avinash rubbed the tears off his eyes. He was laughing hard thinking about everyone's reaction when she said that.

Amelia took a deep breath to calm herself down and stopped herself from killing her husband, who was busy laughing at her. She squinted her eyes at him and glared. Avinash thankfully got the message and stopped laughing.

Amelia rang the doorbell and Manish opened the door welcoming them in. They entered and sat on the sofa in the living room.

"Hey, Amy how are you?" Naitik asked, coming towards them and sitting beside Amelia.

"I'm fine thank you, how are you?"

"Where is Kavya?" Avinash asked, wanting to know about her.

"She has gone out with her friends" Avinash nodded, understandingly.

"What about Nani?"

"She's sleeping" Avinash hummed in response. Amelia's mood turned off as she really wanted to meet her and talk to her. Now she would have to wait.

"Amy, do you want to see Avinash bhaiya's childhood pictures?" Naitik whispered the question into Amelia's ears discreetly, not wanting Avinash to know. Amelia nodded eagerly. Avinash was suspicious of the duo but didn't say anything. Mama called him for some work so he left the room.
