The Dogs
Avinash groaned loudly when he heard his phone ringing. He ignored his phone, wanting to sleep more. The crying session sure had tried him and not to mention those ugly thoughts.
However, the person calling didn't take the hint. His phone kept blasting until he sat up in the bed. When he sat up, he readied the position they were in. Amelia had draped her arm on his chest which came down to his bulky waist. She was still in her formals.
Amelia did not change into her comfortable clothes last night. She was too tired to even get up. Avinash sighed, cursing himself, and took the blasting phone.
"What?" He snapped at the person on the other side of the phone. He didn't check the caller id but he was really mad at the person for ruining his sleep.
"Cooper isn't feeling good after your last visit" A meek voice spoke back. Listening to these words, Avinash mumbled a quick 'I am coming' and untangled himself from Amelia. He rushed to the bathroom and in less than five minutes, he came out wearing whatever he found.
The noise of the shower forced Amelia to get up from her slumber. As she opened her eyes, she could see Avinash getting ready.
"Are you going somewhere?" Amelia's lazy voice asked, yawning. She stretched herself like a puppy. Avinash eyed her but not wanting to violate her privacy he averted his gaze. He was truly a gentleman.
"Yes, Cooper has not been doing good. Sally called me in the morning"
Hearing Sally's name soured Amelia's mood. She didn't like the vibes Sally gave off. Not wanting to leave Avinash alone with Sally, Amelia got down from the bed.
"I'm coming too!" She hurriedly rushed towards the bathroom to get ready but Avinash's words stopped her.
"You sleep, you must be tired"
"You must be tired too" Amelia deadpanned, keeping her hands on her hips before giving Avinash her best puppy dog eyes to convince him. The magic of her eyes started melting Avinash's firm decision. This trick always worked.
"Fine puppy" He finally gave in, making Amelia smile. Amelia got ready in a record-breaking time and wore her blond hair in a bun. She just threw herself in the most comfortable clothes she could find.
They hurriedly reached the shelter where Sally was already waiting for Avinash at the door. She ignored Amelia completely. Sally was finding ways to touch Avinash, making Amelia furious with her leach like behaviour. She wanted to ask Cooper to bite her hard.
However, Avinash's main focus was Cooper. He picked Cooper up and took him to his car. Avinash sat on the driver's side and Amelia clutched the door of the passenger side when Sally reached forwards to sit in the shotgun seat.
"I think we can manage now" Amelia gave a tight smile and sat beside Avinash. Sally should know that Avinash was a married man now. She should stop taking Amelia's place now. Sally must have to be known that Amelia did not plan on leaving Avinash.
