The Day
"What do you want now?" Amelia asked Asher who was standing at the door of her room. Asher had a talk with his mother, a while ago. He came to meet Avinash and explain himself to him.
"I just want to talk to Avinash" Asher spoke out silently. He looked more beaten and bruised, mentally than the one she met a few hours ago. She was about to deny but Avinash came out from the bathroom and agreed. He did want to have some words with him.
"Can you come to my room please?" Asher pleaded. This was the first time Asher spoke like this. He had never bent down in front of anyone. His ego had never allowed him to.
Without further conversation, Avinash and Asher walked to Asher's room. Amelia was worried that Asher would say something and convince Avinash that he's not good enough.
"What do you want to say, Asher?" Avinash spoke rather rudely. His voice held no affection and no recognition of Asher. It was as he Avinash had forgotten that he had a younger brother. Registering the Avinash's anger and hate towards him in his voice, tears pooled in Asher's eyes.
He realised that he had lost a brother who loved him with everything. The process of trying to snatch what was never his, made him lose many people who loved him dearly.
Even Cadence was hard on him. She even slapped him once through her tears. But she wasn't to blame. He had done many terrible things. He deserved it.
"I just wanted to say sorry to you and Amelia" Asher spoke. His vice was merely recognisable.
"Do you think that is going to make a difference?" Asher just shook his head and kept his head down. He knew he had messed up badly. He knew it.
"Why did you do it?"
"I don't know. I ran away from the marriage because I didn't want to be married this soon. I went to my Grandfather's place where he took me. After talking to him I thought that what I was doing was correct. However, when we were younger all I did was because I was jealous"
"Jealous?" If anything, Avinash was jealous of his brother and sister because they got the love of their Father and Grandfather too. Avinash had always felt unwanted and left out. He was always the odd one out.
Because of his biracial background. However, the Verma family had given a lot of love to all three, Avni, Avinash, and Asher. Asher didn't keep any contact when he grew up. It did hurt them when they got to know about it but they just let him go.
"Growing up, you were always mom's favourite, she always showered you with love and care and even I wanted that. When I saw you weren't good with people I used it against you. I know it's pathetic. Even dad, he was indifferent towards all of us but he always had a special soft corner for you. He always bought you more gifts than us" Avinash had never played with any of those gifts ever. He always gave them to Avni or some poor kids. He just didn't play because those were given to him by his father and they weren't on good terms back then.
