A/N: Let's be real here. Some of you guys are not in any way fans of Fitz. You could even go so far as to say you hate him. Well, get over it. That was books ago. It's called character development. Peace.

Now that I've addressed that issue, if you don't like this ship, then okay. Go ahead and request your favorite ship of KOTLC. Will I do it? I'll do any and all except for Sophie+Keefe in any form! Why? Because I am not a fan of the ship. Addressed.

Fam is Fitz+Tam for those of you who don't know, and this was requested by , though the remarks above were not.

I bring the stuff I said above to your attention, because later in the story, I will be addressing this. If you're uncomfortable with that idea, then don't read this! Problem solved.

(Don't like how blunt I'm being? Well, this is me being mildly ticked off. And also why Tam is my favorite character in KOTLC. So deal with it.)

Onto the story. I must warn you, THIS HAS MENTIONS OF SUICIDE AND SELF DEGRATION. PLEASE DON'T READ IT IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH IT.

I will write another Fam thing later on, but not immediately. I have other things I have to do first. Thanks.

Tam stood warily at the front door, gazing up at the palace, Everglen.

The palace guard let him in, and Tam heard the slow tapping of his feet against the crystal floor.

"Where is everyone?"

A soft voice came from behind a pillar.

"Well, the way you entered wasn't exactly the main gate, and you arrived smack dab in the middle of King Alden's resting time, so everyone is taking a break too."

"So what are you doing here then?"

"Waiting for you. I figured that you weren't the kind to enter through the front gates, so I waited for you here."

"How do you know? And who are you?"

A young boy stepped out from the pillar, with strawberry blonde hair, and metal bits sticking out of his cloak.

"I'm Dex Dizznee, Technopath."

"Tam Song, Shade."

The name the boy gave rang a bell, and Tam pursued his lips.

"You wouldn't happen to be Dex Dizzee who wanted to match with my sister, Linh Song, would you?"

Dex nodded shamefully.

"I did, but your parents refused me when they found out my parents were a Bad Match."

"They're not my parents anymore, and I'm really sorry about that. They're...."

"Prejudiced?"

"Just like the rest of society."

Dex fell silent, assessing Tam's lithe figure.

"So you're Prince Fitz's new Regent."

"Yes. But I have no idea what that means. Not really. Who can I ask about my rooms?"

Dex scrunched up his nose, thinking.

"I remember passing by your chambers today. They stood out of place, all black and grey, surrounded by painfully shiny crystalline walls."

"That sounds about right."

Dex motioned for Tam to follow.

"This way. I assume your Conjuror will bring your things later?"
