A/N: Hello!! It's been awhile, but I got another request! This time, it was from @Claraclarinette,and she requested (in French so I'm not 110% sure that's what she wanted, but....) a Wylinh one-shot, so here goes!

This is going to be kind of a human AU in a sense, but at the same time, not really. Made-up kingdoms in modern times kind of style. Arranged marriages, balls, and a potential sword fight! (Coming later as a Fam oneshot for someone!)

It's been awhile, so enjoy!

"Linh! Linh! Where are you? I have some wonderful news for you!"

Sitting in her window seat, Linh was quietly studying her forbidden book about water and its properties when she heard her mother's voice calling for her.

Quickly, Linh shoved the book under her cushion, pulling out her foreign diplomacy textbook and opening to her lesson studies.

"Mother, I'm in my room!"

"What's so important that you come here?"

Mai Song entered the room where her daughter slept in, dismissing the maid.

"I've finally found someone who is willing to marry you after that awful fiasco in Atlanta!"

Linh looked up sharply, flushing at the mention.

"You-you have?"

Linh was shocked, as her parents had sharply berated her for speaking and helping a commoner who had caused the royal carriage to be covered in pig slop.

They had sworn that no one would want to marry a girl like her, and forbade her from learning anymore about her favorite field of science, hydrokinetics, saying that it was time she became a real royal.

Linh was sent to a training facility for misbehaving royals who needed guidance, with her twin brother Tam, who refused to do anything without Linh.

"Yes! He's not as affluent or wealthy as I was hoping for at first, but after your incident, we're lucky we can marry you off at all!"

"Sir Prentice's son. He was disgraced, among other things, but now he is back ruling his city."

A grimace of disgust passed upon Mai's face.

"I do wish he was a little more... Royal, but he's the only one who passed and was still willing to marry you. Prince Fitz was willing, but after the issue with his father, he retracted the offer, saying he wasn't emotionally stable to support a wife or family."

Looking wistful in a rather unpleasant way, Mai raised an eyebrow at her silent daughter.

"Well?"

Hurriedly, Linh stood up, only to bow to the floor, head down.

"Oh thank you Mother. I shall cherish this moment forever. I am grateful for your continued efforts in your search for a suitable husband for me. I will be a faithful and earnest daughter in the last days of my stay in your house. I accept this marriage with an open heart."

Remaining bowed until her mother left with a huff, Linh quietly wept.

"Why must I get married to escape this house?"

Quiet footsteps and a gentle knock on the door later, Tam slipped in, concern and bitterness etched across his face.

"Mai told you the news, didn't she. Well, I'm not going."

"Oh Tam! I don't want to leave you!"

"Leave me?"

Tam's arms tightened around his sister.
