I started to explain it to Zero the best I could, telling him my personal thoughts about it as well. 'It all just seems like one long and confusing string of events that just places Niko's family in a weird spot, and the association as fishy.'
Zero stayed quiet for a little bit, thinking it over. 'I still don't trust her.' he breathed out, leaning forward and rubbing his temples with his fingers.
'In some ways, she reminds me of you.' I whispered, catching Zero glaring at me. 'You're both really secretive and don't explain yourself when you're doing something for someone.'
'Speak for yourself, you're both the ones that make performative friendships to get what you want and then...' Zero's voice trailed off as he looked up at me. 'Even now my words don't even faze you huh.'
I crooked my head to the side confused. 'Were you trying to insult me?' he sighed and shook his head.
'Forget about it.' he laid back down on the bed holding his hand to his forehead. 'I'm still feeling sick.'
I looked down at him with a slight smile. 'You can't recover from being sick in less than a day naturally. Here.' I held out my wrist for him, hovering it over his face.
He took my hand and bit into, drawing my blood and breathing heavily. It had been a while since he last drank my blood, and I can bet that it's nearly, or probably gotten to him already.
'Someone's thirsty.' I muttered, Zero released my arm and wiped his lips, lying back down in bed and pulling the covers up. I rolled my eyes and mimicked him, laying down and rolling into bed next to him.
'Zero, what's wrong.' I said under my breath, attempting to pull him closer to me, but he swatted my hand away.
'I thought you were getting better.' he muttered, his words almost jumbled due to the fact his face was buried in the pillow. 'Who are your real friends Akara?'
I was taken aback by the question, looking at zero with confusion. He turned around to face me, his eyes red again. 'Who do you actually care about?'
'I well, you're really putting me on the spot here.'
'Just answer the question.'
'God, you obviously, you're the only person I care about.' he smacked me on the head. Wrong answer.
'Not like that, like friends.'
'I—' I seriously don't know what to say. Who are my friends? 'Mary and Neji.' he raised his eyebrow, urging me to continue.
'I guess some of the night class. I mean Moka, Akatsuki, Aido and Takuma are my closest, but I don't mind the others.' I sighed, trying to figure out what the hell Zero was asking me.
'I mean I also like Niko. even after all of this, I can see her side of the story and I would have probably done the same thing in her position.'
'Do you actually trust any of the night class though?'
'No. not really.' I replied bluntly.
'Not even Niko, or your sister?'
I don't know what to tell him, I don't understand what he's trying to get at. 'The only person I actually trust is you Zero. you're the only person I feel 100% safe with.'
'Akara you need someone other than me.' he breathed out.
'I don't. What are you saying, that you're going to die soon?' I raised my voice, irritated at all the questioning going on.
'Yes! I won't be here forever Akara! You're a pureblood who will live forever, and your blood won't keep me alive forever!' he suddenly yelled out, making me pull back.
