I woke up with a sudden jolt, sweating from head to toe and gasping, reliving my parent's death whether awake or asleep. I looked over to Zero, who was still sound asleep. Thank god. After last night I wasn't sure what was going to happen. Zero was sweltering with more rage than I had ever seen, and I had to do something I promised myself I would never do.
I used my powers on him, forcing him asleep.
That's why he didn't awaken when I roused, his body was being forced not to. I can apologise to Zero when he wakes up, right now I have more pressing matters to deal with.
Niko.
That girl was nothing but grief, but she knew something I didn't, and I couldn't let it slip through my fingers, not this time.
I looked back over to Zero and noticed that his face was paler than usual. Weird. I pressed my hand against his forehead, my eyes widening as I felt the heat coming off him. He had a fever. That's what you get for using your powers on him when he was like that, I just had no idea level C's still got human illnesses.
I growled, wanting to stay by his side but knew I had to talk to that girl before she decided to skip town, which I had a feeling she might.
I teleported myself to the moon dorm, right in front of the door and knocked. A few seconds passed when Niko opened the door.
I looked down at her, anger bubbling at the surface of my skin 'We need to talk.' I tried to step into the dorm, away from the prying ears of the other vampires but Niko blocked my path, causing me to grit my teeth a little.
'I don't think we need to,' she said, looking me dead in the eye. that's a laugh. Like she can seriously get out of this that easy. I narrowed my eyes at her, matching her glare.
'What do you mean, you don't think we need to?' I lowered my voice down, hissing at her, once again trying to get inside as I felt the other vampires starting to pay attention, but Niko pushed me back again.
'I get it, you're pissed with me—'
'Niko, I am more than pissed with you,' I growled, the veins in my neck bulging and my powers trying to activate, I fought against it. I can't kill her.
'—but this isn't about you. Yes, you are my friend but this isn't something I just tell friends. The only two people who knew my last name before this were Ayato and Kaien. You need to respect my privacy.' she finished, pushing against my chest again. I looked down at her, a mixture of murderous feelings and complete and utter fury rushing to the surface.
'Respect your privacy? I drag your boyfriend's ass all the way from Tokyo and this is what I get in return?!' I raised my voice, the power booming from it, which I saw made Niko fault, slightly.
'I am very grateful for that Akara, and I am very grateful for everything you have done for me. But you need to understand that I was going to tell you. I was as soon as you got back, I was going to get you and Zero together and tell you. Just because I didn't get to doesn't make me a villain all of a sudden,' her calmness was starting to fade, which made me even more furious.
I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose, which was just about the only thing that was stopping me from exploding her heart inside her chest. 'Then explain it to me Niko! No one will tell me anything and I need to go take care of Zero, so I would appreciate it if you just got to the point. All I have heard is that the Association has something against you and your family.'
Ayato appeared at the door, tugging on Niko. 'Come in, I need to sleep.'
Finally, Niko let me in the room as she also noticed all the vampires staring at us, pointing to the chair I once generously sat on to watch over her. What a waste of time.
