Fuck.

this can't be happening. If ayato means even the slightest amount to Niko as Zero means to me, then I knew she was devastated, her mind jumping to the worst possible outcome.

I turned back to the TV to watch the events play out. I watch, my mouth wide open as the helicopter focuses on two figures. I didn't recognise them but I could tell Niko could, tears welling up as they walked down the middle of the road, straight up to the CCG vans and cameras.

I heard Niko take in a shaky breath, her head falling into her hands. I did the first thing I could think of. I pulled her into a hug, letting her weep on my shoulder as she tried to tell me what she was thinking incoherently.

All I could think was that this is what Tokyo is really like. Not the dream wonderland of people and places, but mass murder and a police state.

Nikos body shook in my arms, and at this moment I realised just how fragile she was, the tough girl exterior melting off.

'I'm so fucking scared Akara.' she choked out, her words catching in her throat. I simply sat there, silent, patting her head and holding her close.

It's okay Niko, I'm going to make sure it's okay. I'll do everything in my powers to make sure it's okay.

'What if he's dead Akara, what if they got him? What the fuck do I do!? I can't fucking go and check on him!' she whispered seriously, anxiety coursing through her veins.

I sat there with her until she fell asleep, waiting to see her chest rising and lowering rhythmically.

'Come on Niko, let's get you to bed.' I whispered, picking her up gently and carrying her to her room. I placed her down on the bed and pulled the covers out, tucking her in and making sure she was comfortable.

I knew zero was worried about me. 'I'll be back in a sec.' I whispered.

I went to the room I was using during isolation and picked up the things I had in there, teleporting back to my room.

'Took you long enough– are you okay?' Zero said as I appeared.

'Niko's boyfriend may be in serious trouble. I just put her to bed but I'm going to go back and stay with her a little longer.' he nodded his head, understanding the situation. I put my items back and teleported straight to Niko's room.

She was still asleep thank god.

I pulled out one of the chairs in the room and sat close to her. Not too close that my presence may wake her up, but close enough to make sure she was okay.

I looked down at her, replaying the events on the tv in my mind with growing worry. I couldn't shake what Niko said about going back.

She would get killed if she went back, but what if I went in her stead? I could find Ayato and bring him back to Cross Academy where he would be safe, and more importantly, with Niko.

That's it.

I'm not going to go to the Aido villa. I'm going to go to Tokyo, I'm going to bring back Ayato in one piece and put Nikos mind to rest.

I knew she would do the same for me, she was the first one to protect Zero when he was being ganged up on by those vampires. It may not seem like it, but our friendship runs much deeper than surface level. Even though it may seem like we hate each other, deep down we both have a mutual respect that lets us insult one another and not take it personally.

She's basically my best friend, one of my only ones.

I stayed with her until the sun climbed high into the sky. To be honest, I fell asleep for a little bit, so I have no idea what time it was.
