James's POV:
At rehearsals the next day, I smiled over at Riley as I chatted with all the boys. From what I know, Emily was down in Hidalgos with Stephanie. Since she fractured her leg, she's not on the Internationals team but still stops by to watch us practice sometimes. She told me it's mainly because she wants to see me though.
As Riley stretches, I can't help but look over, only for my gaze to meet her butt. I find it quite hard to, but I manage to look away and when she stands up again, she looks over and smirks at me before shaking her head and starts doing lunges. I grin to myself and then change my focus to what the guys were talking about as we were sat by the benches. I noticed Eldon was looking over at Thalia though. Maybe I should give the two of them a rest, seeing as I'm having difficulties with my own relationship at the moment.
"Yo man, you seem distracted by something, what's up with you?" West says. I quickly glance over and see Riley talking with Chloe and Giselle before looking at West again.
"Nothing man. What're you talking about," I mumble. This whole conversation regains Eldon's attention yet again and he raises an eyebrow, puckering his bottom lip in confusion as he looks at me, along with West.
"Something's definitely up. Yo- Yo are you crushing on someone?" West asks, jumping to conclusions way too quickly. Not that his conclusion is wrong...
"What? No. I would never cheat on Emily man!" I exclaim. I think I said it a bit too loudly as Riley looks over, standing straight.
"Really?" Eldon questions.
"Of course not! I love her more than anything. No one could ever replace her," I say, fully aware that Riley was listening. I look up at her to try and view her reaction, but she looks down before we can even lock eyes together.
"Okay then," West huffs, putting it at rest. I let out a short breath I had been keeping in. I really hope Riley doesn't take what I had just said the wrong way.
"Hey babe," I hear a familiar voice say. I smile as Emily enters the room, hobbling the slightest on her left leg and a juice in her hand. Steph was stood beside her but left to go to the girls as Emily walked over towards me and the boys. She sits sideways on my lap and then I kiss her cheek. After all, I still am her boyfriend no matter what my feelings are like for Riley.
"Hey love, you didn't get me one?" I ask, acting angry as I take in that she only had one plastic cup filled drink in her right hand.
"Yeah, well I thought we could share. We both love blue raspberry anyway," she says lovingly. I smile as she pushes the cup towards my lips and I take a sip of it using the red straw. She rests her head on my shoulder as I wrap my arms around the front of her waist, holding her close, trailing kisses on her bare shoulder as she wore an off-the-shoulder top.
"Okay lovebirds," West grins. "It's a shame you two won't get to do a duet this year, seeing as you won us the Nationals duet last year," he says.
"Yeah, but I mean... It can still go out to two other people who want it," I say.
"Yeah, I'm not the best dancer anyway," Emily sighs. I rub her arm and kiss her temple.
"No babe, you are a really good dancer. Don't ever think you aren't," I whisper to her. She smiles and lifts her head up, leaning her head forwards and pouting her lips to get me to kiss her, which I reluctantly do so. She kisses back softly but it wasn't like the kisses I shared with Riley yesterday. Those ones were unlike any other I've ever had with Emily before.
Riley's POV:
As I watch James and my sister kiss, it just makes me feel majorly uneasy and very discomforted. It makes me feel so much worse about everything. I feel confused. If what James texted me last night was true, surely he would be spending less time with Emily, not kissing her right in front of me?
"I'm just going to go to the toilet girls, I'll be right back," I tell Steph, Chloe, and Giselle. The truth is, I just couldn't stand to watch them kiss any longer because all I feel is guilt and remorse.
I hurriedly walk out of the room, passing Ella who was talking with Thalia, and smirks at me. She starts swiping one hand over the other as if to symbolize her throwing money. I roll my eyes and ignore her gestures, before walking out of the room.
James's POV:
I pull away from the kiss a short while later, and Emily looks confused as to how I quickly did so, but she leaves it. I notice Riley walk out of the room quickly. She meets my gaze but then a worried look crosses her face and she hurries out after that.
"Em, I'm just going to check something with the band before rehearsal starts, I'll be right back," I tell her, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead as I get up to leave. I quickly walk after Riley and notice she was walking down the corridor in the direction of the rehearsal room.
"Ri, wait," I call after her. She slows down and turns around to face me, fiddling with her hands.
"What is it, James?" she sighs. I walk over and catch up with her, grabbing hold of her hands and she turns so that her back is facing the wall.
Riley's POV:
"Riley... I want to kiss you. I want to hug you. I want to text you all the time and be there for you. I want to protect you. How can I make you mine?" he asks. It amazes me how serious he was about this. Us.
"James, I want to do all of that too, but we can't. Em's my sister," I tell him. No matter what the situation is, I will always support my sister first and never leave her. Not even for the boy of my dreams. "She loves you. I'm not going to take that love away from her," I tell him as I cup his cheek. I stare at him for a minute before detaching my touch from his and beginning to walk away. But then I hear his voice call my name again.
"But what if I don't love her?" he says. I turn back around to face him. This time, shock confusion evident across my face. He tells her he loves her every night and they're the top couple practically in town. She's so much more prettier than me too, blonde hair and blue eyes. The girl that every boy wants. She's confident in herself, much more than I am. How can he not love her? I thought he adored her.
"James, you can't say that. I watch you two all the time. I watch you kiss, cuddle, laugh, play, I've even heard you in your rooms a couple of times," I tell him. He looks down, obviously feeling rather embarrassed which was understandable.
"That's true. But I can picture all of those things being so much more fun with you," he says softly.
"Do you really mean that?" I ask quietly and reluctantly.
"Of course I do."
I then find myself walking up to him and pushing him against the wall before passionately kissing him again. It's been less than 24 hours but it's only now that I've realized how much I've been craving his lips. I run my hands up and down his chest as he draws patterns on my back with his fingers.
"Tip please," I hear a voice say. I hesitantly pull away from James and turn around to see Ella standing there, seeming rather proud of herself. I roll my eyes and fiddle around with my cardigan pockets, but then James places his hand over mine.
"It's fine, Ri," he says. He passes Ella the cash and she grins to herself before walking away.
I have no idea how long this is going to go on for.
