Three updates today😉 - I'm bored and have nothing better to do which is why. Not proof-read though, sorry about that😬

James's POV:

"Where the hell were you two?" Kate questions sternly, crossing her arms as Riley and I join them at the table.

"Sorry," Ri mumbles. "I can just eat like a piece of fruit or something, don't worry," she says.

"Okay, hurry up though. We need to run through the finals routine all day today-"

"But Miss Kate, if she's pregnant, then why does she need to rehearse? I don't get why you made her an alternate anyway because even if a dancer did get injured, it's not like she can take their place," Giselle mentions.

"That's true but if there was any chance of Riley getting a miscarriage at some point, she'd be able to dance. I know that seems cruel and I'm not saying I'd want that to happen exactly, but that doesn't mean there's not a possibility," she responds.

"Right, so let's just pretend I'm not sitting right here and listening to everything you're saying. Also Riley and James, that's really gross," Emily speaks up, picking at her nails.

"What is?" Riley asks, raising an eyebrow and looking confused.

"Don't play dumb. We all know what you were doing to make you late to breakfast. You're both just pushing the team behind. Do you want us to lose?" she interrogates.

"Right... And I just said I'll have a banana or something. I can eat it whilst you're rehearsing, I'm not wasting any time at all. Also, what James and I do in our free time has nothing to do with you so stick out of it," Riley says back sternly, holding my hand in hers. Emily stays silent then and looks at Michelle who rolls her eyes, not minding us and Riley sighs.

"Just ignore them," I whisper to her. She looks up at me but doesn't say anything so I squeeze her knee slightly. "Seriously, Ri. Ignore them," I repeat. She rolls her eyes but places her hand over the top of mine and rests her head on my shoulder.

...

Riley's POV:

I stood backstage, waiting as the rest of the team changed into their costumes and got their hair and make-up ready for the final dance. I can't believe Internationals is almost over and I haven't been able to feature in any dances. It just feels as if everything I've worked for, everything I've dreamed of from competing at Regionals and then Nationals, it's all for nothing and as if I've failed as a member of A-Troupe. Being on A is all about helping you to become that one specific dancer you've idolised for years, getting you to that position and is all about making your dreams come true. There are so many scouts at Internationals that could have their eyes on anyone at any time and so being able to perform at a time like this would be one of the best opportunities of a lifetime and yet I'm stuck on the side-lines.

Amanda is too, but she seems so happy and proud and I just don't get why. So I walk over to where she was stretching even though she wasn't performing and I tap her shoulder. She turns around to face me and smiles.

"Hey Ri, what's up?"

"Nothing, I'm kind of just thinking about something," I say. She raises an eyebrow.

"Something...?"

"I just don't get how you're so happy and relaxed right now even though you're an alternate. I mean I'm an alternate and I feel so annoyed that I'm not doing anything. I want to perform and right now I feel so useless. I mean, I don't want to sound selfish or anything but it's just been bothering me," I say. She sighs and stands up properly.
