Gwaine's POV:

I don't know how long I have been here. Being trapped in a windowless cell really messed with your sense of reality. But I can guess it's been more than two days by the cycle of meals: three equally spaced out 'meals' consisting of mouldy bread and water. I have received around seven portions, so it should be around mid morning. If I know Arthur at all, he would be on his way right now. I just need to hold on a little longer.

"Get up. We have visitors." A slither of light streams in through the iron window in the door. I drag myself to my feet, which is hard since my body is on the brink of exhaustion.

Once on my feet four heavily armed guards march into the cell and drag me through the run-down castle. Jeez you would think a king known for conquering kingdoms would have a luxurious palace of his own. Then again, Essitir is nothing compared to Camelot so I shouldn't have had such high expectations.

I am thrust on to my knees in front of a ridiculously ornate throne, the only object to show for his royal status. Cenred rises, Morgause at his side.

"Well it looks like your king cares for your worthless little life after all. When he arrives you are going to ensure he gives us everything we want."

"Or what? I'll have you know Camelot's safety means more to me than my life. You can have it. I will never jeopardize Camelot."

"How cute." Morgause takes a taunting step in my direction, a smirk plastered on her face. "No, I don't think I will take your life. Now the boy however, he is a life I am willing to sacrifice. You see when one is asleep they give me full access to their memories. You should have been more careful Sir Knight."

The air is sucked out of my lungs. If it wasn't for the vice like grip on my shoulders I would have collapsed. It's Kye's life or Camelot. Panic rises, churning in my stomach like waves in a storm. How could I possibly choose between the two? Kyeyar put his trust in me, he depends on me. I will not be the cause of his death. I will not be like his parents who left him for dead. But I have a duty towards Camelot that I cannot ignore.

I pull against the chains that still bind my wrist and neck, using any remaining strength to break free. I manage to break one link before guards swarm me. I am pushed to the floor and practically sat on to keep me at bay.

"Morgause, control that prisoner or I will not hesitate to run him through." Cenred roared stepping dangerously close to my head.

"You do that and it will be the last thing you ever do." With that the witch stormed out of the throne room, flanked by four soldiers.

Arthur will be here soon and where there is Arthur there is Merlin. I can only hope he knows how to take down that bitch.
