sorry for the break :) and by break I mean almost six months....oops

Kyeyar's POV

The castle is huge, but scary. Nothing like Camelot. I cling on to Percival as we get nearer to the entrance. I can see guards lining the gate, each holding spears that shimmer in the moonlight. I don't understand why they took Gwaine. What could they possibly need from him? This is just like what happened with Mama and I don't like it at all.

"You're going to be fine Kye I promise." Percival whispered into my hair. He was the only thing that kept me from crying. I don't like to cry but sometimes I can't help it.

Arthur silently pushes open a door ahead, signalling for us to hurry up. We sneak through the dusty corridors and I have to try my best not to sneeze. Honestly I know they are bad people but do they never clean.

Merlin chuckles to himself and I can only assume he read my mind. Although he falls silent when Arthur glares over his shoulder. I feel guilty, they looked so happy together before I ruined it. Merlin talked about Arthur non-stop when I stayed with him, I took that away from him.

"I'm sorry Merlin." Merlin's head jerked up ever so slightly but he didn't reply. Great. Now two people are mad at me.

We reach a long spiralling staircase and Percival taps me on the shoulder. "I think it's time for you to turn invisible again. When we get down there you hide, make sure if you drop the spell no one can see you."

"Okay." I close my eyes and feel the familiar tingle of magic run over my body. Percival lowers me to the floor and as soon as I make contact the spell takes effect. I stay glued to Percival's side as we descend the stairs.

Horrible screams echo around and by Percival's face he recognises them. My heart nearly stops when we walk into a large hall and find Gwaine chained to a post with cuts littering his chest. There was no one else in the hall yet no one made a move to help Gwaine down.

I don't know what I was thinking. Seeing Gwaine like that made me so angry my mind couldn't process things properly. Before anyone could stop me I was running forwards, dropping the spell entirely.

Gwaine's eyes widened when he saw me and he gestured wildly but I couldn't understand a word due to the gag in his mouth. After thrashing his head for a moment the gag came loose he screamed at the top of his lungs,

"It's a trap."

Gwaine's POV

As soon as the dreaded words left my mouth all hell broke loose. An explosion from the far side of the hall sent rubble flying everywhere, knocking those in the vicinity off their feet. Kyeyar tripped and skidded across the floor, hitting my legs with a thud.

"What are you doing here?" I don't want to yell at him but I just can't comprehend why he is here. Merlin promised me he would keep the child safe yet here he is in the midst of battle.

"I wanted to help." Kyeyar said with such innocence it made my heart ache. His eyes flashed yellow and the chains that bound me to the wood disintegrated. I fell to the floor and Kyeyar jumped into my arms.

"I missed you."

"I missed you too kid." I whisper into his hair. The dust from the explosion settles revealing an army triple the size of our own.

Morgause steps out from behind a pillar and begins to circle the Knights. Given my lack of armour and weapons I stayed in the centre of the huddle, gripping Kyeyar for dear life.

"Looks like your king delivered me my prize after all." Her stare burned into Kyeyar's skull making untold amounts of anger simmer beneath my skin.

"You want him you go through me."

"Why do you want him? He is but a child?" Merlin shouted his eyes tinged with gold. Wait gold. How much happened whilst I was gone?

"Isn't it obvious. He is a warlock, and a powerful one like that. Magic as strong as his could easily rival that of Emrys." Merlin scoffed at that, stepping out of the huddle much to Arthur's disapproval.

"I highly doubt that." A single strand of black lightening forked through the air, clamping around Morgause's throat. She was slammed against the wall left gasping for air. Of course with their leader incapacitated the enemy soldiers decided to attack.

"Oh I don't think so." With a swipe of his hand Merlin sent the troops flying creating a clear path to the exit. "Go! I can hold her off long enough. Get Gwaine and Kyeyar out of here."

I could tell Arthur wanted to argue back but for some reason he refrained. Seriously what have I missed? Arthur signalled for the men to leave allowing Percival to run to my side.

"You look like shit." He joked and I mock gasped, covering Kye's ears.

"Language Percy there's a kid present."

"Oh shut up and follow me."

We had reached the drawbridge when a deafening explosion rang out across the courtyard. Parts of the keep began to crumble, one of the turrets collapsing in on itself. Arthur tried to run into the building and had to be pinned by Leon and Elyan to prevent himself getting killed.

Kye was muttering something in the tongue of the old religion so quietly I could barely hear it. But whatever he was doing created a strange golden tinge in the air. He reached out to touch one of the specks only for it to explode into a blinding white light. Two figures fell out - as if he had created a portal of some sort.

Somewhere behind me Arthur broke down as both figures lay limp and bloodied against the pavement.

"Emrys?" I didn't even realise Kyeyar had left my grip until I saw him lean over Merlin's body.

"Kye what are you doing-"

"He's breathing. He's alive I can feel it."
