The others had gone to bed, Klaus had gone to the library, I had gone with him.
We were looking at books, I was looking at the opera one, wondering if this was really the one I was looking for, when I needed to go and get my glasses. I was tired.

I walked back to where the bags were, they were in the main area from where we all "greeted" each other beforehand, I rustled through my stuff quietly when the quietness was broken by Fiona.
"I see you've been having fun with Klaus, hm?" She said.
I turned around, glaring at her, "That's none of your business, Fiona."
"It's my submarine."
"And it's my personal life."
"Are you jealous? I had the guts to kiss him-"
"Without his permission from what I've heard. He's told me every little bit. I'm not jealous."
Fiona then said, "Leave Klaus alone or you're out, I've seen you both do...business here."
"You can't do that, Fiona."
"It's my submarine."
"Your Father's actually."
"Step."
"Exactly, you're not a direct descendant. The submarine isn't yours. I'm not getting off."
"It would only be you."
"I'm not-"
"I don't care, don't hesitate! He who hesitates is lost!"
"She who hesitates is lost."
"Just get back to what you're ere doing, stupid petty Snicket!"
I stared at her, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I couldn't believe that she was on my side, "Aye aye...captain."

I walked back into the library and put on my glasses, sitting on the table reading.
Klaus noticed my sudden change in mood, "what's wrong?"
"It's nothing, Klaus, don't worry."
"It's Fiona, isn't it?"
"How did you know?"
"I could hear the shouting."
"She called me a stupid petty Snicket."
"She's getting a punch in the face."
"Please do."
"That doesn't sound like you."
"I'm tired and confused, it wouldn't."
"Fair enough," he looked at me in my glasses, "they look good on you. We match."
I took them off, looked at them and then at Klaus's, "oh."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"No, I just didn't know about it, I haven't worn these fora while."
"You should wear them more often."
"No way."
"Why?"
"Because," I laughed, "they strain my eyes."
"That's why you need to get used to them."
"Easy for you to say."
"Maybe so, but still."
I rolled my eyes and giggled, reading out a bit of the book, "a loud voice is key to making a dramatic scene."
"Sounds like Fiona right there."
"It does, doesn't it?"
"Indeed."

I woke up, later than everybody else and got dressed straight away, I didn't know where my clothes were, so I stayed in what I wore before.
I got it of bed and found everybody getting ready for something around the table, Klaus took my hand and pulled me over.
Fiona then stared at me and pointed at the open pothole, she wanted me out, "it's that or you're going in the grotto."
"I'd rather go in the grotto." I sighed.
"We're gathering samples of the Meducoid Myselium." Frank informed.
"Why's that?" I asked.
"We want to know how much they took." Fiona replied.
"I'm going down there." I volunteered.
"No, you're not." Klaus whispered.
"I'm immune, the sugar cubes, remember?" I whispered back.
"There's too much of a risk."
"That's settled then!" Fiona smiled, "Charlotte's going down."

I put on my suit, now realising that this was maybe a bad idea. I didn't like the water. I was only doing this because I was curious. The water started filling up, Klaus didn't look pleased with me, he had his hand on the glass, staring at me.
I smiled and got out, I swam directly into the grotto.

I took off my helmet and started trudging around, nothing really was there apart from the spores, it's smelt disgusting.
I might have arrived a bit late as I could see the fungi begin to pop out slightly.
"Oh great." I sighed, getting out the little carving knife and test tube out of the suits pocket.
I grabbed a little bit of the Meducoid and sliced it off the grotto wall, putting it into the tube. There wasn't as much as I had expected  to see.
I put it in my pocket and put my helmet back on, I began to swim back when I felt awful.
Maybe I wasn't immune.

Fiona's POV
I saw Snicket come back up, still looking normal, I drained all the water out.
She took of her suit, when I noticed a little change in color, she had a little tinge of green in her face.
She opened the door quickly, passing Frank the Meducoid Myselium tube, then fell down, face first.
Klaus ran over to her when I put my arm out, stopping him, "no."
"Why not, Fiona?"
"She's contagious, she's poisoned."
"That's not true, she had a sugar cube."
"Well obviously it didn't work. Put on a suit and then help her."
"Fine!" He ran off, he was determined, something I'd never seen him be before.

Charlotte's POV
I woke up, all alone in the kitchen, I was obviously being quarantined.
I saw a note on the table and picked it up, "we have you wasabi, you should feel better soon. As soon as you do, you're allowed out of the kitchen. -Klaus."
Perfect, I wasn't immune. I must have a defect in my system.
I walked out, I felt better. Mainly because I was out of there.

"Hello." I smiled at them.
"You're okay!" Klaus laughed and ran over to me, getting ready to hug when Fiona yelled.
"No, Klaus!" She stared at him.
Klaus turned around, "why?"
"She could still have-"
"Look at her, she's back."
