Klaus had didn't have anything in his mouth, he was lucky.
"Charlotte, that was such a bad idea, honestly."
I nodded and tried to say I know.
"Why did you do it?"
I could say what I could. He managed to pull the cloth out of my mouth with his teeth.
"Because I wanted you out so I could distract them." I answered after he kissed me.
He fell back into his seat, "they didn't hurt you anymore right?"
"No, not yet. Apart from the obvious harpoon wound."
"I don't know how you survived that."
"It's just hit the top of my shoulder. It's not that bad."
I started pulling at the rope around my arms, trying to get free. I was fiddling with Esme's badly done knot, I was free in seconds.
I undid Klaus's knots and got him out, we both did our feet separately.
We started pushing at the the lock, it was definitely locked so I got out my hairpin and started lock picking.
"Do you need some-"
I covered his mouth and signalled to pretend we were still tied up.
Carmelita was coming to check on us, she opened up the cell, "how are the little Cake Sniffers doing?"
I knew what we were going to do, it was so obvious.
"Great, Carmelita." Klaus looked at me and winked for a second.
I stared at Carmelita.
"Love birds, huh? Cake Sniffers can't be in love!" Carmelita laughed.
Klaus then said, "Oh, they can. I've read it in a book."
"Books are for stupid Cake Sniffers that want to take their eyes of me! They can appreciate how blessed they are when they see me!"
"They're only blessed because they know that there are more better looking people in the world." I spat out my cloth and got up, grabbing her.
Klaus pushed Carmelita into the chair and tied her up, putting the cloth in her mouth after.
"There, much better." Klaus put his arm around me and we walked out.

We met up with Violet, Sunny and Quigley and started walking toward the town hall.
"Why are we walking there?" Klaus asked Violet.
"We're going to attempt to get help." She answered, "hopefully they have the memory of a slug."
"I don't want to get burnt at the stake." Klaus sighed.
"Neither do I." Sunny mumbled.
Beatrice laughed in Violet's arms.
"She's been laughing the whole time. It's a bit weird honestly." Violet smiled.
I opened the town hall doors, and did the most strangest entrance. We just walked in, breaking whatever million rules there were.
Klaus grabbed my hand, I bet he was worried.
"Murderers!" One of the elderly lady's exclaimed, the one with the crow hat, brown hat and glasses.
"No, that's the Baudelaires. They're innocent." The blond haired lady said.
"Has that been proved?" The elderly man questioned.
"Indeed it has. By Justice Strauss." The blond haired lady smiled, "how are you Baudelaires?"
"We're fine." Violet and Klaus smiled.
"You have brought friends with you?" The brown haired lady asked.
"Yes, this is Charlotte and Quigley." Klaus smiled at me.
"Hello." I said, quietly.
"Hi." Quigley smiled.
"Snicket?" The blond lady looked at me.
"Yes, ma'am." I smiled.
"I could guess that, it's the eyes. You know, of the Snicket woman. Was she your Mother?"
"What did she look like..?"
"Brown hair, blue eyes-"
"No. That's my aunt."
"Rule number 108 states no interruptions."
I sighed and looked up at Klaus.
"What are you all doing here anyway?" The man asked.
"We're asking for help." Klaus informed, "from those of Count Olaf's following."
"He's dead."
"That was Jacques Snicket, Charlotte's uncle." Violet pointed out, "the first time."
"He died of the deadly fungus on a far away island." Klaus finished.
"We just need another place to hide, another sanctuary, everybody who's ever looked after us is dead." Violet sighed, "the only person we've really got is Charlotte's Father."
"But we're not doing that." I whispered to Klaus.
"No way." Klaus sighed.
"I'm sorry children but we cannot help you, we have no space left." The man sighed, "we'll always be here if we do."
"Thank you for telling us that. And also, thanks for listening rather than stating that your assumptions are true." Violet smiled.
We walked back out.

"We have to be careful." Klaus whispered.
"Stay in the shadows until we get to the cab." Violet mumbled.
"I'm tired." Sunny admitted.
"I can drive." I smiled.
"That's settled then." Violet laughed quietly.
We walked through the shadows of the village, it was impossible due to the lack of shadows, so we just walked behind the houses. Even if we were technically breaking the rule of trespassing.
"Just a little further-" Klaus mumbled.
"And you'll all be dead!" Carmelita interrupted enthusiastically.
"How did she get out of the chair?" I asked Klaus.
"Esme." He sighed.
"Yes, Cake Sniffer! Mommy helped me!" Carmelita laughed.
"She's not even your biological mother." I pointed out.
"That doesn't matter! She doesn't have to be my bio- biolo-"
"Biological!" Me and Klaus yelled.
"Yes that!" She clapped her hands, "now follow me or you're all getting harpooned."
"Fine." I sighed as we all began following.
Klaus had is arm over my shoulder, his head once again on mine.
We were both worried, everyone was.

"Mommy!" Carmelita squealed.
"Oh, there they are!" She shouted, annoyed, "Snicket you're dea-"
"No. You're too stupid to kill me. You couldn't even keep an eye on your bait." I smiled.
"She was holding you hostage?" Klaus whispered.
I nodded and looked at Esme.
Her face was almost as funny as Carmelita angry.
She was pretty furious, "sugar cubes!"
"We don't have them! We've told you a million times!" Klaus yelled.
I looked up at Klaus and then at the duo.
If I gave them up, wouldn't I be saving someone's life? Or someone's home?
I got out of Klaus's hug and walked over toward the cab, opened it up and got out my spyglass. I walked back and dumped all the sugar cubes out on to the floor.
"Charlotte, what are you doing?" Violet asked.
"Saving our souls." I stepped on them, crushing every cube into smithereens, "or maybe putting them in danger."
