We ran into the general store as fast as we could as Klaus mumbled, "here we go again."
Violet then lead us to the back of the store, acting as casual as we could so that the store clerk wouldn't suspect anything was wrong, we wanted him safe but we couldn't speak a word about it, Frank would kill us.
I took Beatrice from Violet and put my hand over her mouth, trying to keep her from babbling nonsense.
Sunny was holding on to Klaus and Violet, Quigley next to Violet.
Frank was in front of us all, we were al cramped in a corner.
The door to the store opened, the bell made the usual sound. I held my breath.
"Sir, have you seen any children of sort? With a man in a suit?" A voice I knew, Earnest, "who looks exactly like me?"
"Why, yes, sir. Over by the back." The man answered, not knowing what he'd just done.
We were being thrown to the lions again.
I looked up at Klaus, afraid. He just mouthed,"it's okay."
We didn't move even when Earnest caught sight of us, Frank wouldn't let us.
"Give me those children Frank." Earnest said.
"No, Earnest." Frank shook his head, "no way."
"I advise that you hand them over before it's too late."
Frank then looked confused, "too late for what?"
"You." Earnest ran over to him and slit his throat.
We took that as a chance to run, we got back into the car, no matter the impeding doom coming closer and closer toward the car.
"Who can drive?" I asked.
"Me." Sunny said.
I stared at her, "but you're a-"
"Toddler, she knows. She can drive pretty well though." Violet smiled and put her in the front seat.
I dropped my bag in the boot, so did Klaus.
I sat on one side in the middle, next to Klaus and Quigley, Violet took shotgun as usual.
Somehow Sunny could reach the gears and the brake and accelerator, it confused me.
I could see Earnest run out of the General Store and the duo, Esme and Carmelita start catching up to him.
"We need to go." Quigley said.
"Now." Violet said and Sunny hit the accelerator and we sped off.

I looked out the back window, it was like a race was happening as they were tailing quite fast.
I was confused, how was this all happening, why us? Obviously I wasn't wishing it on to anybody else, that would be wrong. I was just wondering why.
Beatrice was babbling on and on, I couldn't keep my hand on her forever.
She wasn't crying which was a relief.
I looked up at Klaus, he simply looked worried and he grabbed my hand.
"Don't worry." I said.
"I'm trying as hard as I can not to."
"Were going to get out."
"Seems unlikely at this point, Charlotte."
"Don't say that."
"We just lost Frank. There's nobody left."
"We have each other."
He went quiet and so did I, I looked through the back window again, "perfect."
The villians were driving right behind us, as if they could drive over us.
"Klaus, I have the most stupidest idea ever."
"What's that?"
"Throwing the sugar bowl out of the window."
"No way, you're just giving them what they want."
"But there won't be anything to give if I empty the sugar cubes out. It would also stop them from following us."
"Just...do it Charlotte before anybody else-"
I rolled down my window, emptied the sugar cubes into my bag and chipped a bit of the china off, and threw it out the window before he could finish his sentence.
Just like I predicted, Esme's car had stopped to pull over. We carried on going.
"What was that?" Violet asked.
I rolled up my window, "the sugar bowl."
"What?" She questioned.
"I hasn't got any sugar inside."
She stared at me and then looked at Klaus, "you let her?"
"I didn't like the idea much, but it worked." He answered truthfully.
Quigley looked back at the car behind us, "I guess it did."
Beatrice laughed a little, "car!"
I laughed.

It was dark now and we had pulled up at the old Heimlick Hospital ruins, some scaffolding was still up, some planks near the top is where we were headed, wondering if it was stable enough for us to sleep there, it sounded stupid but it was all we had for another thousand miles.
We started climbing up, I had Beatrice tied to my back using the rope made of ribbon and some excess pieces from my bag.
We finally got up to the top, it seemed stable enough for us to all get on to. I would've preferred to sleep in the cab.
"This is nice." Quigley smiled as he looked up at the sky.
I sat down, putting Beatrice down beside me, holding on to her just in case she tried to crawl around, "yeah it is." I sighed.
Klaus sat beside me and put his arm around my shoulder, "you okay? You seemed pretty worried when you were in the cab earlier."
"I'm alright, it's what happens when you've been chased down for quite a while." I laughed.
"That was the obvious one. I should've thought of that."
"How did you not-"
"Distracted." He laughed.
"Oh right. Or are your glasses blurry again?"
"No, that is what the tissues are for."
I got out my glasses and passed them to him, "they're still blurry."
He took of his and compared them, "exactly the same."
"I don't even think they're reading glasses."
"They aren't for sure."
"Your eyes are getting better, Klaus."
"Maybe I'm getting to your level of clear sight."
"My eyes are the worst, I walk into things."
"Like when you walked into another person when you saw me and Isidora put the spyglass together."
"I was just utterly bewildered."
"Oh?"
"I didn't think VFD was still recruiting."
"They weren't, we just didn't know we were part of it."
"Well, you are now. You're not like my Father."
"I'll be part of it if you are."
"Definitely."
