I got into the boot of the cab, Klaus next to me as usual, he didn't speak, he only had his head on mine and his hands interlocked with my hand.
The ride was quiet, Quigley was in the front, talking with Frank. This time not questioning.
Violet was playing around with Beatrice and Sunny, trying to keep each other occupied.
"I don't ever want to see her again." Klaus whispered.
"Neither do I." I mumbled back.
"Im sorry you had to experience that."
"I've had to experience the same things for a while, but that was ages ago."
"Oh."
"She's been the same moody Fiona for my whole life, wow."
"You've known her for that long?"
"Yeah, it's sad really. We've known each other since diaper days. Like how my Mother knew your Mother for that long."
"We've been connected for a while."
"Father said I'd know you for a bit when I was little, I don't remember."
"Slightly. We both sat on the table in my old library back at the mansion, staring at a picture book like a deer staring at headlights."
"Probably a good comparison."
"Very, from my point of view. That's what we did for the majority of time that we saw each other."
"Not like anything really has changed."
"No, nothing much. Except for the part that we both like each other."
I smiled, "That's the one thing?"
"Is there more?"
"It's so blatantly obvious, isn't it?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
I looked down at our hands and then up at Klaus, "do you need your glasses checked Klaus?"
He laughed and looked down, "Maybe they do, or its because every time I kiss you, you breath on to my glasses. Not past."
"It's not my fault. You just don't take your glasses off."
"I can hear you." Violet laughed and turned around.
"What?" Klaus asked, acting innocent.
"You're talking about kissing?"
"What's the problem? You do it all the time with Quigley." Klaus pointed out.
Violet rolled her eyes, "I have never kissed him and neither has he to me."
"Yeah, yeah." Klaus laughed.
"Quigley!" Violet shouted.
"Yeah?" He opened the privacy window.
"Have you ever kissed me?"
"No." Quigley shook his head.
"See?" Violet playfully slapped Klaus on the knee.l, "or are your glasses all blurry due to your ragged breathing whenever you see her."
"Maybe it is!"
Violet laughed even more, I think she only said that as a joke, "Charlotte, is he like this with you?"
"Hardly." I giggled, "he's even more funnier."
"In what way?"
"I don't know, just generally."
Klaus laughed and squeezed my hand for a second, "you're funnier."
"How?"
"Just generally." He quoted, laughing.
"Violet, is it just me, or are his glasses actually blurry?"
"His glasses are pretty blurry."
"Stop it, Violet!" Klaus scowled.
She laughed, "I'm being honest."
"That sounds sarcastic. Sarcasm isn't the same as honesty."
"That's obvious." I pointed out, giggling.

We got out of the cab at the Last Chance General Store near the train track, we were somehow getting closer to the Mortmain Mountains.
I picked out what I could, I just got a strawberry lollipop, pena Nd a small notebook and got back into the cab.
Klaus didn't take exactly the same as me, just replaced the lollipop with a newspaper and the notebook with some tissues.
I got back into the boot, I stared out the window like I usually did when I was bored, and opened up my lollipop and started eating it. I was just trying to pass time while I waited for everyone else.
I got out the small, old and crinkled piece of telegram paper, the one Justice Strauss sent to everyone a year ago, the one that talked about the last safe place. It would be back together, hopefully.
I put the note where Klaus had sat, just in case he wanted it.
The rain started to pour heavily over the cab, as if streams were being created just on the windows.
I wondered where my Father was, and what he was doing for a short while. I was curious.
Klaus opened the boot, soaking wet and sat beside me, "it's raining cats and dogs!"
"I can see that. You're soaking."
"I'm sorry, I'm making you soaking too." He realised he fell on top of me.
I kissed him, "it's fine."
"That's obvious now." He kissed back laughing.
He kissed me again I managed to say, "are your glasses less blurry, is that what the tissues for?"
"They're getting blurry again." He took of his glasses.
I smiled, "sorry."
"No, it's okay." He hugged me.
