Draco POV

My mind couldn't get rid of the disappointment that washed over Y/N's face. The second the door creaked to close, I could only watch her turn back from the tiny closing gap. I was ready to come back to her and tell her that she didn't have to be alone with the lowly elves, that I would not go to the meeting, all only for her to not twist a frown out of her sweet lips.

If only father and his bloody cane didn't wait for me outside.

"You can't let a girl control you," said father sternly as we walked down the stairs to the meeting hall.

Right, as if he dares to disobey mother.

I was already in a bad mood after the doctor broke the news about Y/N's health and now I had to leave her for a meeting that I, myself, hated, and this annoying man I called father seemed not to get the hint. I chose to stay silent for now instead of protesting and made him dislike my girlfriend even more—though I still didn't understand why he suddenly disliked a lovely girl like Y/N.

It was just strange. Father had never shown his bitterness towards her when her parents were still alive.

"Where's the girl?" Asked Wormtail when we entered the meeting room. Then he snorted, "Did she enjoy the scones?"

I should've known it but I was playing naive. This bloody gopher-looking leech had no reason to food poison my girl. She had never met him in person, only heard me ranting and describing him in awful disgust a few times at night before we went to bed.

"Nobody should scream at my master," he hissed. I was so close to strangling him in front of the Dark Lord and other Death Eaters, but father stopped me. He didn't want me to make a scene that would worsen his reputation for apparent reason.

"I'll fucking kill you," I hissed back in a lower tone.

The atmosphere was gripping gloomily as though the air wanted to throttle everyone in the dining hall, suffocating us to death—and we were only at the entrance.

I sat next to my parents while Aunt Bella took a seat across us, right between the Dark Lord and bloody Wormtail. My eyes never left his horrible beaver-look-alike face. Wrath ignited deliberately as anger-infused blood rushed continuously through my veins.

"How is Richards not with you?" The Dark Lord questioned out of the blue, causing everyone to look up from staring at the wood fibre of the table. "Haven't I told you to bring her here today?"

"She's not feeling well, she needs to rest," I spoke through my gritted teeth.

"Don't be ridiculous. Wormtail said it's only food poisoned, I want her here," said the Dark Lord with a sneer.

I glared at the slave of the devil, who looked like he was holding another snort of laugh about my girlfriend's condition caused by no other than him. Oh, how bad I wanted to punch his ugly face; I would gladly behead him and give his head to Y/N for her to smack though she might not very much like it.

My eyes quickly drifted to mother and she looked at me sadly; no one dared to despise the Dark Lord. She nodded faintly, concurring with the devil's wish. I never had a choice, did I?

I reluctantly moved towards the bedroom I shared with my darling girlfriend; the steps became heavier as I got closer. I wished I would never reach the bedroom now, given the current circumstances. Uneasiness invaded me deep down in my heart. I knew she was terrified of the Dark Lord, yet my body kept approaching her, trying to bring her to her worst nightmare ever since she arrived here.

It took me a strong will to get past the tall, ash-brown door. In one swift moment, the wind whiffled with her scent, surrounding me thoroughly and I could feel relaxed right away.
