Chapter 31: Secured

Felicine

Eudayme was smiling at me as I hug him. I know that he's hurt but he was still smiling. I burried my face to his chest as I sob. He carresed my hair while whispering that he's already fine and he's doing great because he's with me now.

Kumalas ako sa pagkakayakap at paulit-ulit na hinampas ang kanyang braso. Napapa aray naman siya sa kada hampas ko.

"Aray ko, Felicine... Aray!"

"Where were you? Why did you let yourself be taken by those ugly goons!" I said. I am dead worried about him! Dumagdag pa itong bagong laro ng organization.

"That doesn't matter now. Buhay ako oh!" Eudayme said then spread his arms. He looks so proud. Napaaray naman siya at tsaka hinawakan ang kanyang labi. It was bleeding.

"I told you didn't I?" Napalingon ako kay Cali na ngayo'y nakasandal sa pader habang nakakrus ang kanyang mga braso. "Eudayme is a trickster. He will do anything to stay alive."

"Oh my, Cali. You, complimenting me didn't ever crossed my mind." Eudayme said, chuckling. He stood up, trying to maintain his balance as he walked towards Cali.

"I take it back." Cali said firmly, averting his eyes at Eudayme. Napatawa naman si Eudayme hanggang sa mapaubo siya. He crouched down, covering his mouth as he continued to cough.

Nanlaki ang mga mata ko ng hindi tumitigil sa pag-ubo si Eudayme. Blood were coming out from his mouth every time he coughs. Nahihirapan na din si Eudayme. Cali was quick to rush to his aid and carried him from his back.

I clasped my hand to my mouth as I stared at Eudayme who's being carried away by Cali. They are going to the direction of the infirmary. I slapped myself not too hard to wake up. Now's not the time to space out! I quickly ran and followed Cali. From my distance, I can see that Eudayme has stopped coughing but was unconscious.

Did they punched Eudayme very hard? How could they! They are heartless!

Hindi naman nagtagal ay nakarating na kami sa infirmary. Agad na pinahiga ng nurse si Eudayme sa higaan at pinalabas kami. Siya na daw ang bahala kay Eudayme.

"Bakit ka pumayag na lumabas tayo? Isn't it safer to stay by his side while this game is still on?" Tanong ko kay Cali ng tuluyan na kaming nakalabas. Pinagkrus niya lang ang kanyang braso at tsaka sumandal sa pader. "Paano kung may mangya-"

"There's no need to worry." He replied calmly. I furrowed my brows and looked at him. He was closing his eyes.

"How can you be so sure?" I asked him, squinting my eyes. Alam naming dalawa na tumakas lang si Eudayme. Kung pinatakas siya, malamang ay magmemessage sa amin ang organisasyon but I highly doubt na pinatakas siya. Bakit pa nila kukunin si Eudayme kung papatakasin lang nila? That's not like them. "Paano kung may naghihintay pala sa loob na isa sa miyembro ng organisasyon tapos ipaambush si Eudayme? Hindi ba't nakatakas lang siy-"

"I know the nurse, she's the sister of my late friend." He said, his eyes were still closed. Nabigla naman ako sa sinabi niya. Sister? Now that he mentioned it, hindi niya pa sinasabi ang pangalan ng kaniyang kaibigan. Ang sinabi niya pa lang sa akin ay ang story kung ano 'yung ikinamatay niya. I didn't know that there's more to it. I want to know the full details. "Are you satisfied with it?"

I nodded at him. The atmosphere here changed a bit. I can't find the right words for it basta nag-iba no'ng binanggit niya ang tungkol sa kaibigan niya. Should I apologize for it? I might have touched his scar.

*Ring... ring... ring...*

I shrugged off the thoughts in my head when I heard a phone rang. Napalingon ako kay Cali na kinukuha ang phone niya sa kanyang bulsa. He answered the call and put it in his right ear.
