Chapter 13: Unwanted Visitor

Felicine

I woke up in a room covered in white. I looked around and realized that I wasn't in my room nor in the school clinic.

I tried to move but I find it hard. Nang mapatingin ako sa kamay ko, doon ko lang napansin na may nakatusok dito.

'Argh! Ba't may swero ako?'

I tried to remember what happened, before I was brought here; I went to the abandoned room to find the bomb but before I was able to locate it, someone covered my nose and mouth behind me with a handkerchief, it has the scent that made me unconscious. And then, I was awoken by a cold liquid surrounding my body that drowned me. And I was saved by someone.

I sat down and looked at the clock beside the TV and saw that its already five o' clock. I looked next at the window four steps from where I am lying down and saw the sky in orange color.

"The sun is setting." I muttered to myself. 

I was staring at the window when I heard the door being opened. Napalingon naman ako dito at nakitang may dalawang pigura ang pumasok.

Sina Inspector Madrigal lang pala at Cali. May dala-dalang isang envelope si Inspector habang si Cali naman ay may ice pack na idinadampi sa gilid ng kanyang labi. What happened to him?

"Good afternoon, Felicine." Bati sa akin ni Inspector. I nodded to him as a response and returned my gaze to Cali whose continuously pressing the ice pack to his right lip. He looked back at me.

"What?" Iritang tanong niya sa akin.

I lifted my weak arm and pointed my right index finger to his right lip. "Anong nangyari diyan?" I asked him.

"I got punched by your father." He said in a low voice but it still got my ears.

My father? Oh for Pete's sake!

I gave him a confused look saying the words 'why on earth did he punched you?'

"Anyway, inspector, since she's already awake, why don't you ask her the questions you're dying to ask? There's no time to lose." he suggested, ignoring me.

"Before that inspector, where's Eudayme?" I asked him, staring at the door, expecting him to enter.

"He has errands to make." Said Cali still pressing the ice pack on his lip.

"By errands, you mean investigating at the school? Because I'm pretty much sure that the bomb located in the abandoned room -- to where I was assigned -- exploded." I asked the both of them.

"No." he replied.

"Then what?" I asked.

"I don't know." he quickly replied.

"Moving on, are you feeling well now?" our gazes shifted to the inspector seated on the couch while munching on an apple he got from the basket that supposed to be mine.

"I guess so." I replied.

"Oh! This basket full of fruits came from yours truly, I hope you don't mind me munching one of the fruits here." he informed me and continued to bite on his apple.

"I don't really mind, inspector." I said and gave a soft chuckle.

Cali forced a cough to get our attention, he didn't failed because we both turned our heads to him. The inspector sprang on his feet and picked up the envelope near the basket.

He opened the envelope and pulled the paper inside of it he pulled next a pen from his pocket.

"Inside this envelope is about the case that happened earlier. You just have to answer my questions, nothing else." he instructed me. He cleared his throat before speaking again.
