Chapter 30: Light

Felicine

/"Surprise detectives!"/

I saw Cali clenched his fist with anger. The caller, on the other line was laughing hysterically. Nasa tabi ako ni Cali, pinakikinggan ang walang katapusang tawa ng nasa kabilang linya.

"Felicine," Cali called me. "Call the police, I'm sure there's more to this day's game." I nodded as a response. Without wasting any second, I quickly dialed the campus police's number.

*Ring... Ring...*

Hindi naman nagtagal ay may sumagot nito.

/"Good morning, Officer Suarez on the line. How can the police help you?"/

"Sir, someone was murdered in front of the senior high school building." I said.

/"Pamilyar 'yang boses mo... ah! You're Felicine, right? 'Yung partner ni Cali. Okay, okay, nainform ko na si Inspector. Just preserve the scene."/

"Thank you officer Suarez." I said then hanged up. I put my phone inside my pocket before looking at Cali, he was staring at the phone we picked up at the speaker.

"Cali," I called him. "Ano na ang nangyari? Ano 'yung sabi?"

"The one who called was the leader of the organization. He called himself as Light."

"Light? Light Yagami ba?" Pabiro kong tanong.

"Idiot, not the Light that will write the names in his notebook to kill them." he said. "I don't know what that exactly means, though. By the way, look at this."

He turned to me and showed me the screen. It says:

You think that it ends here? What a joke! Let me tell you a story, a series of murder.

Once upon a time, there were two partners wandering, filling up their curiosities. They found a black device on the top of a loud box device. Out of curiosity, they picked it up only to find something that will trigger the both of them. Someone called, they answered, someone screamed, they ran, they found a dead body.

I have a feeling that this story is about us. Anong tingin nila sa amin? Characters sa isang Kuwento?

What happened to the dead human? Someone pricked him.

With what? A poisoned needle.

How? Personal contact.

By whom? It's a mystery.

What could be the ending? Would it end with a case closed? or maybe failure.

I turned to Cali with knitted eyebrows. "Could it be..." I slowly turned my head to the dead body of James Ramos. Agad namang lumapit si Cali sa katawan at masinsinang tiningnan ito.

"Affirmative." He said. Lumapit ako sa kanya at tiningnan din ang katawan. Tinuro niya ang bandang leeg. May kulay pula na umaagos mula rito. Tumayo naman siya at pumunta sa babaeng sumigaw. Nanginginig pa rin siya at umiiyak. "Did you see someone who came in contact with James before he collapsed?"

Pinunasan naman ng babae ang kanyang luha bago magsalita. "May nakita akong babaeng umakbay sa kanya. Nakasuot siya ng sumbrerong kulay itim na may gold sa gilid." She said. "Sorry, 'yun lang ang natandaan ko, limited lang kasi ang gano'ng sumbrero kaya 'yun lang ang natandaan ko."

"Limited?" Lumapit na rin ako sa kanya.

Tumango naman siya. "Kahapon lang 'yun nirelease, balak ko nga sanang bumili ng gano'n kaso naubusan kaya hindi na ako nakabili."
