"Wands away." The pink lady spoke in such a stern tone. I quickly became under the impression she wasn't fond of being in the presence of young wizards.

"Why do we have to put our wands away?" I whispered to the girl next to me.

"Shh!" The girl shushed fearfully.

"What? I just ask—"

"Ahem." A high pitch giggle came from the toad-like woman. "Miss. Nott, though I understand you are new here, but please do not step into my classroom under the assumption that you can do as you please. If you disrupt my lesson again, I will not hesitate to serve you detention."

"I'm sorry, I was just curious as to why we need to put our wands away."

"The I suggest you raise your hand and wait to be be called on." She answered. So, I raised my hand, and to my surprise, she didn't immediately call on me, so I gently waved it. She sighed loudly. "Yes? Miss Nott?"

"Why do we have to put our wands away?" I asked the wretched woman who looked as though the color pink vomited all over her. She stretched her lips as far as they could go. Even some of them wrinkles she had temporarily disappeared.

"Because we do not use magic in this class." She said calmly before turning towards the board.

I'm sorry, what?

"So, you mean to tell me that this is a class that teaches defensive spells, but we aren't allowed to practice them? How are we to know if—"

"Students will raise their hands if they have a question." She said in an irked tone. I raised my hand before just speaking without permission.

"How are we to know if we can even use the spell if we can't perform it? That makes no sense whatsoever." I said in rage.

"Congratulations, Miss Nott. You've just earned yourself detention with me after school hours today." She said with that stupid smile still on her face.

"For what? Asking a question?"

"Why, for disrupting my class on countless occasions. Now, put your wand away, and open your book. That goes for the rest of you. Chapter 39. You are to read until the end of the class."

"How will you know if we read it?" I murmured under my breath.

"Because you will be taking important notes during your reading, and turning them in to me after. Keep up with the backtalking, and I won't hesitate to give you another detention." She said firmly. I rolled my eyes and opened my book silently.

What a bitch.

This must be what blondie meant when he told me not to upset her. I guess I should have listened to him, but how was I to know he wasn't setting me up for failure? It's what the other girl would have done.

Nonetheless, I made a grand first impression. I won't apologize for it though. I'm not sorry that I felt the desire to stand up for myself, and ask a question on a situation I knew very little about. I wasn't aiming for a debate, but a more stable answer. I was willing to respect her response if it weren't as stupid as that tacky pink blazer and matching hat and skirt she wore.

The class went on, and I took my notes as directed by the pink toad, and turned them in once the bell rang. I stood up to exit the room along with everyone else. When I walked out the door, blondie was standing there waiting for me, leaning against the wall with one leg bent with his foot pushed against it, and a hand in his pocket with his bag lazily slung over his shoulder.

I raised my eyebrow at him and wondered why he was waiting on me.

"Let's go." He said.

"Where?"
