Laurel
The days went on, same thing, different day, every day, for an entire week. I'd wake up, get ready, and sulk in my room to avoid Draco at all costs.
Narcissa and Theo would visit me from time to time, but that was just to check on me. They were worried, but I assured them that I was fine, that I just wanted to be alone.
I was positive that the news about me Lord No Noses powers had reached the ears of every Death Eater, and their families by now, meaning Draco probably knew, but I didn't care.
Today we were returning back to school, and since I had spent the last few days packing all of my essentials while locking myself in my room, I decided to go to Diagon Alley. Ginny had written to me and told me how her brothers opened up their own shop, and I was curious to check it out.
I dressed for the day in an all black attire, and brought my trunk downstairs for the house-elf to bring to the platform as Narcissa told us to do.
"Hey, Theo." I greeted my brother when I noticed him sitting alone in the dining room, eating. He looked up at me and greeted me with a smile.
"It's about time you left that bloody room." He said.
"I'm about to head to Diagon Alley, care to join me?" I asked upon entering the room only to realize he wasn't alone after all.
"What for?"
"Just some last-minute essentials for school, I need a new quill because my other broke over the summer."
He looked at me then glanced to the blonde boy who occupied the seat across the table from him, giving him an uneasy look. "Um, Lo, just so you know, the Alley isn't exactly safe anymore. A lot of shops have closed down and—"
"If you don't want to go, then just say so, Theo. Either way, I'm going." I said turning around to head to the floo.
"No. I'll, I'll go. I'd have to be mad to let you go there alone. Just let me finish my breakfast." He seemed nervous about something. I wasn't sure why. I haven't kept up with the news in the wizarding world, over here especially. The news of Voldemort's return was about all that I knew, but what has happened in the two months I've been gone I'm completely clueless.
He finished eating and followed me to the floo where we were transported to Diagon Alley. Theo wasn't kidding when he said a lot of shops were closed. The alley was already a gloomy place where no sunlight ever seemed to hit, but it was as if all of the happiness had been sucked out of it.
I looked around and noticed a large, purple, and red brick building with a large red-haired animatronic statue on the outside labeled Weasleys Wizard Wheezes. This must be Ginny's brother's shop. I started for the shop when I felt a tug on my sweater.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?" Theo demanded.
"To see the Weasley store." I bluntly said. I didn't see the issue. He probably just didn't want us to get separated.
"I don't think so. I told you, we don't associate with those blood traitors, or do you need a reminder?" He spat. I was disgusted by the way Theo and some other pureblood wizards were raised.
"I don't see why it matters. They're nice people, Theo. Which is more than I can say for other pureblood families."
He scoffed. "They're only so nice because they're poor. They have no reason to be rude and bitter. Well, actually if I were that poor, I would be pretty damn bitter about it, seeing as it wouldn't get me anywhere."
I pointed at the Weasley shop before turning back to my irritated brother. "Does that look poor to you?" I asked. There were people flooding out of the front door. "Because to me it looks like a successful business. The Weasleys, each of them, have worked hard to get to where they are in life. That's what you do when you're not as finically stable like wizarding families like ours. You earn it."
